Keeping an eye on it, but not worried, yet. They predict that it will be a strong tropical storm (60 mph) by landfall Saturday night/Sunday morning. I'll be prepared, but usually don't worry about them until they are 24 hours away because they can change direction or drift or just sit there. Time to make some ice...

They last I heard the news had it heading straight for me. I'm 40 miles north of New Orleans. I really hope it isn't bad. You never can tell with this things. Who knows where it will end up. I just hope it isn't here, my cousin is getting married Saturday and it's an outdoor wedding, looks like it's going to be a wet one.

Just what we needed, more rain  Usually by this time of year we have 28 inches of rain, but we have had 48 inches. It's now Tropical Storm Arlene. Don't forget to fill up your vehicles in case you lose power.

I was planning on going to Biloxi this weekend but think I will change my plans. I live in Hammond, LA. We are always going to the coast. Hopefully this thing will slow down some. They are expecting about 40-60 mph winds. Good luck all.

Hurricanes are so exciting!

It is a human connection with Mother Nature, showing her infinite strength and unpredictability!

I think I get my fascination with hurricanes from family members, but I also get my over-seriousness about them from the family, as well!

The (tiny) family fortune in Florida was made from re-building after hurricanes!

I was really scared earlier because i am in Florida right now. As it turns out it is going to basically miss us. Only a few showers, and right now it is sunny :D

The eye just came on shore a few miles west of us, so we got the bad side. Strangely, we've had a lot of strong winds, but hardly any rain (as far as tropical systems go). It's not over yet, so the rain may come later tonight. I'll take this over a storm like Ivan.

We're still overcast and getting rain down here from whatever strange weather pattern we're in but it's those to the far north that are getting Arlene

I know, I was just watching the news/ weather and although I feel super bad for the people that are in the path of Arlene, I'm glad you and FL have survived the blunt force of this 1st one , well sort of .

Oh dear...I'm travelling to wdw on Tuesday 21st June (in 9days!) and am v worried about weather, hurricanes etc.... do you think it's likely there will be a hurricane then?

JuniorMickey

I'd say about 90-95% of the tropical systems that we've experienced have taken a week or more to threaten us. Every now and then, one "pops" up out of nowhere and hits within a couple of days. All I can say is to just go and not worry about it. But since it's that time of year, just be prepared.

Well, just got back last night.

The storm was no big deal at Disney.......it drizzled on and off Sat.

Kept the crowds down. Overall the weather was great.

Had a blast. :)
