Hey Guys!
I'm going a bit post mad today lol, 13 posts in 10 months and now 5 in one day! but with the holiday almost upon us i have many questions!
Basically guys i just wanna know how much money you take around with you each day? i am taking $2,200 for myself to cover food and souviners (park tickets and accomodation with breakfast already paid!), however i dont know how much is enough for one day in the parks?
As you can tell we wont be slumming it hehe :rotfl: but i dont wanna have too much or not enough on me in the parks, i fear the disaster of seeing an expensive souviner and not having the cash with me to buy it!
Oh by the way the money is divided between travellers checks ($1,650) and cash ($550), dont know if that helps?
Thanks guys!

If you are staying on-site you can charge anything to your room so you don't need to carry too much with you.
If you are off-site try not to carry too much cash around at any one time, for safety. Try to calculate roughly how much food will cost each time and how much you want to spend on extras in one day.
If you need to buy tickets at a gate look up the prices first.
Nearly everywhere takes cc too.

I wouldn't carry much more than $50-100 and a couple of TCs with me each day. I don't know whether you plan to carry a credit card or will have charge privileges on your room key, but we almost always charge everything except incidentals.

I agree. Unless you are going out to eat or shopping you really don't need more than $40-50 bucks at a time on yourself. Anymore and you'll give into sensless purchases of souveniers and think to yourself "what was I thinking??"
And then you can sell them on e-bay!! HAHAHa

James we usually split our money into 14 equal parts and then it's into the safe with it
We take enough out each day to cover our daily budget. most of what we take is travelers cheques I have about $200 in cash that I brought back last year. make sure you have a record of all your cheque numbers and keep that in the safe for the duration, hopefully you will not need it but at least if you do you know where it is :)

Hey,
We took bungles of green stuff on the first visit- mistake no.1. Decide your meal plan for the trip and take enough to cover the ice creams and drinks with a mid day burger or something quick. ( $70 tops for 4 per day ) Everything else is best dumped onto the plastic friend in your pocket. We found tickets from Virgin cheaper in Florida and the exchange rate on the card is awesome. Just dont lose track of what you buy, the temptation of all the Mickey goodies can creep up on you.
Go for it - have a great time !

You see I come from another direction with my vacation cash. Growing up on the streets of NYC i have the theory of trust no one, even disney staff, so if i bring cash anywhere I go it stays in my pocket at all times, room safes all have alternative ways of opening, and if it is not in my front pocket I dont feel safe, and i never fear someone trying to take it from me if they see it. I have never lost cash or was stolen from my front pocket. But there are many rooms in orlando that through the years have had safes' robbed, could be a employee getting fired, needs money. They can read your financial stature by your luggage style, your clothes quality & they know whos room they want to go after. I dont say this happens often, but there is a lot of these acts that never makes the press, since the Disney police hush up everything they can. Just another side to think about.

Pumba, that's why it is much safer to use TC's and CC's than cash. Be sure to record your TC numbers and keep them SEPERATE from the TCs.

I don't like to carry much cash, either (of course I don't have it anyway!).
I always sound a bit harsh when I talk about this subject, but I think that folks that carry too much hard cash are just a bit negligent.
It's just what my parents and grandparents taught us, and we kids never got any sympathy from them for anything we lost!
Having said that, I think that WDW cast members are more honest than most folks! As a former CM, I wouldn't want folks to think the CM's are not the best!

I always find the CC option the safest.

I take most of my funds as TCs, with some cash and a debit card as back-up. Had to use the debit card last December as I didn't have time to go to the bank to get cash before I left--only had about $25 with me! Luckily, my bank doesn't charge ATM fees and will reimburse any incurred at other ATMs.
Typically, I'll carry about $20 to $30 in cash and $100 to $200 in TCs. If you run across something very expensive and know you can afford it but don't have the TCs on you, I have a feeling the shop CMs will hold the item for you for 24 hours if you ask very nicely. :)

I'd recommend taking a credit card.. You'll get a better rate of exchange on it anyway. I did that and plan on just paying it all off this week so I don't cause interest to pile up!

We use cash for everything and have never had a problem. I carry about $200 with me each day and leave the rest in the safe. I take the safe key with me and never worry another minute about it. I you can keep up with a credit card you can keep up with cash. Just figure how much you will need to eat on and a little for gifts if you come across something you can't resist and leave the rest in the safe and take the key with you.

CC are by far the best option. I normally make sure I have cash for the stalls ice cream etc. and use the CC for food in the restuaurants. Then if you are buying gifts and staying on the resort you can charge gifts to the room.

Yeah i agree with most people here. Some cash but take travellers checks to. I always take between $100 - $200(depending on where im going) with a spare $100 travellers check stashed in back of wallet incase of emergencies. I dont think i have ever spent my daily budget but its great at the end of the hoilday when you go shopping and you've got a few $ more than you expected.

on that credit card note, your park ticket/room ticket is also a charging card
