View Full Version : Not quite scrapbooking...ideas needed

I have four invitations from the graduation that I recently attended. They are two pages each.
If I separate them, there are four different sides.
I would like to create some sort of memento out of them for the graduate.
All I can think of is good old boring decoupage. I'd like to try something different, but not as elaborate as scrapbooking.
Any ideas?

Could you a shadow box type thing?

I don't know. I think part of the problem is that the invitation is a bit large. Then when you consider that you'll have four pieces... I don't want to create a museum hanging, ya' know?
Maybe I could group and overlap them in a sort of collage? I don't know. :sigh: I just know that I want it done by mid-July.
And I don't want it to be boring.

hmmm, do you have to have all 4 pages? Or would it be possible to shrink the pages?

I need all four pages to have the invitation as it is now. Does that make sense?
The cover and the two inside pages (actually the back and frontsides of the cover and last page) as well as the last page (back side) all have different things on them.
If I shrunk them, then it wouldn't be the "real" invitation. I'm saying invitation, sheesh. What I mean is the graduation program!
Gosh. Might be nice if I knew what I was talking about.
I do have the invitation too, but that is much smaller.
So, now that I've gotten straight what it is I'm talking about...any ideas for the graduation PROGRAM? Oiy. :ohdear:

How about in a frame or does that not work?

oh it's the program! That certainly is big. Hmmm, I'm not sure what you could do without it being huge......

Is it something you want to "hang" (in other words on a wall) or could it be an idea that displays it in another fashion? I.E. a book of sorts....

Foreverducky, I am going to explore the framing options. I'm thinking that I'm just going to go with a large frame and mat each individual page. Will have a look to see what nice frame options there are.

Unless you know a framer who will do work on the side, framing is wicked expensive!
What about a montage that combines the programme, announcement, school and/or class colors, senior portrait and candid graduation day photo in cap & gown? The graduate could hang his/her tassel on it.
It still would be pretty big, but as a wall-piece it would work and would contain everything in one place.

Taja's idea sounds lovely.
How about a folding frame (as in concertina-style)? How large are the pages?

I like Tajainaz idea, but this is a graduate RN. :D No tassles, but there is that cap!
I do have the invitation and the program, but not much else. Plus, a scrapbook has already been made for her. I just wanted to do something special with the program. :shy:
The program is about six across and maybe ten down? Going on memory here, don't have it with me.

Oh, meant to add...
I don't know what you mean, Mystikpiglit. I've not seen a frame like that.

ok this may not be what you are looking for, but someone did this for me for one of my musical programs.
They took each page and laminated it. Then they punched holes in the top and placed them on rings. Then the took a really nice frame back, cut out a few holes, placed the rings through the holes and made a little "stand" that goes on my desk.
It is hard to explain, but does that make any sense?
edit: This might help. When finished it looked like a little fancy flip book. I can flip through the pages.
