We are hoping to visit this attraction in November. Anybody been there? We are a party of 10 adults. Ive heard mixed reports. Is there alcohol allowed? Or is it only soft drinks. How much? Is it better to book through our agent Virgin or book direct? Look forward to hearing your feedbacks?

We haven't visited the one in Orlando, but did go to one in Pidgeon Forge, Tennessee. No booze. Just soft drinks, iced tea, etc.
The show was fun. The food was ok. I'm not big on eating with my fingers...

Hello! We are planning to visit in November too! We went to Florida in 2003 and we saw them building in, so i'm quite looking forward to seeing the finished product!:D
There is an official website, though i'm not quite sure of the wensite address?
Orlando Ticket Deals sell tickets for it, but personally, we are waiting until we get there to book it as i'm not sure if a) you have to give a date to go (and at the moment I have no idea what day we would be going!) and b) we aren't hiring a car while we are there, and i would assume that if you book through virgin at the welcome party, then you would have transport too.:D
Hope this helps a little!

well I'm a big dinner show fan when on holiday. They're just a way to relax and stop thinking for a while
The dixie stampede in my opinion is around the middle of the road in terms of quality. It was a lot less fun than say the hoop dee doo at disney but a lot better than arabian nights which was a huge disappointment.
It's an ok show... I preferred medieval times though for the show itself. Food was slightly better than usual actually (it was actually hot enough) but I don't much like eating with my fingers either.
As with all the shows, you tend to have to really try hard to get more drinks (unless it's when the servers want to give you some).
Overall, it's a reasonably fun way to spend the evening

I'm with you, Keith! I'd much rather do Hoop Dee Doo!!! The show is good, the food is tasty (and you get silverware... a real plus), and I can have a drink if I want it. We've not done Arabian Nights, tho.

Hoop de Doo. Is that at MK? Is it a type of show?

Actually it is at Fort Wilderness. It is a dinner show.

The first time to WDW, DW and I heard that the Hoop De Doo Review was absolutely fabulous!..Oh, you must go to see it ...blah blah..we went and I guess they built it up so much that it just couldn't stand the scrutiny. It was Ok....nothing great in terms of food or entertainment. But I am willing to give it a try again..Donna, do think it warrants it?

I'm not Donna ;) but I'll admit to seeing it lots of times.
I don't think anyone will remember it for its acting or great storyline sure, I think it's one of the best "go there, relax, sit down, eat and laugh" experiences in Orlando. The food is great (well I love it anyway), much better than the usual dinner show. There's plenty of it (and alcohol too) etc.
It does change a bit depending which actors are playing the characters but probably not so much that it's worth going back if you didn't enjoy it though.
For me, it's the best dinner show I've yet seen in Orlando (with arabian nights being the worst)

Hey, I'm doing it again in Oct 2005 and June 2006! And I can't wait! Yes, it's corny and maybe a bit old-fashioned (compared to a lot of stuff out there now), but I can take my young grandkids and I know the show will be "family friendly".
Now, that said, Dolly Parton Stampede is also "family friendly" because that's how her shows and her park are operated. Seldom anything off color.
One reason we do Hoop Dee Doo is that we are staying on-site and the show is on-site, so we don't have to go out and get caught up in Orlando traffic. We drive to Fort Wilderness, catch the bus to the show, and enjoy! But it's a personal thing! It's what you enjoy!

Thanks Keith, we will keep it in mind though, DB's kids are getting to the age where they might want to see it.

I remember one of our DGDs asking "Grandma, why do they call it Hoop Dee Doo?" I told her to wait until the show started and she'd find out. When they started singing, her face lit up with a big smile and she said "Now I know!" And the girls sang that song over and over throughout the visit to WDW!
I can't wait to go back and see it with DGSs and DD in June! That will be so much fun! And we are seeing it with friends in Oct, so that will make it special!

yeah for me it's my ultimate relaxation "thing". I've always found it hard to just relax and hoop dee doo is guaranteed to help :) (once they've finished picking on the audience lol)

It is relaxing, isn't it? It's how we start each trip to WDW with grandkids! We arrive at WDW the first day, check into our resort, give the kids their goodie bags, shop and have lunch at Downtown Disney, and then hit Hoop Dee Doo that evening! Then the next morning we are ready to hit the parks full force!
We've given the kids just a "taste" of Disney so that they are really excited about going to the parks!

I read that Dolly employs over one hundred family members at Dollywood, as she is from a big family in East Tennessee. Some of her poor relations wanted to retire to Florida, and since Dolly is famously cheap - to cheap to pay company pensions, she had to build a park in Florida for them to work at -to supplement their Social Security old-age pensions.
I wish Dolly were my aunt or granny!
