I'd like to take my son horse riding on our trip this year to WDW, but he's too young for Wilderness Lodge and he did the pony ride last year, which was cute but not as exciting as riding your own pony or horse.
Somebody recommended last year a riding stable outside of WDW which was supposed to be brilliant - but unfortunately I can't find the details which I'd printed out.
Would someone be able to offer some suggestions?
Thanks

Thanks Trish, I've had a look, but unfortunately the minimum age is 10 and my son is only 6.
Anywhere else maybe? Could kick myself that I've lost the information I'd printed out before:wall: :whack:

Missed that:oops:
Ideally I wanted to go on a hack - or trail ride and we could all ride together (I know a lame excuse for me to have fun too)! - also I can't wait to see my husband on a horse again - only been once before and thinks he's a jockey!! :laughat: :horse:

I wonder if they put the little ones on a leading rein, just incase.
Was that you looking back? Looks lovely and peaceful. We won't be jumping overturned trees, galloping down the straights and swimming over lakes then?
Oh well, a lovely gentle walk will be just as nice, if not better.

there are set times but i forget what they were think they left every 2 hours. Its just a gentle stroll through the woods my youngest was on a lead rein and was telling the man who worked at the stables all about his holiday. There is a thing that you climb a couple of steps to munt and dismount so thats easy to. also i recommend long trousers to change into for the ride.
yes thats me with long hair and a big bum lol looking back.
we rang to book once we got to our hotel there very helpful.

Don't want to lecture but please don't ever mount a horse without a helmet, preferably one the fits well. Especially don't let your child do it. My DD rides and the barn rule for kids is helmet on-any time they are around the horse-not just to ride but to groom and tack too. Most of the adults do the same. Just like bike helmets, they are seldom needed but when an accident occurs, they save many precious skulls. Even the best trained trail horse can spook or trip.
I'm not an advertisement, but every thing I've heard about the Hyatt Regency Cypress Equestrian center is that it is a very well run professional facility.

I am not a rider (gosh I'd pity the poor horse) but did look at the Cypress Equestrian Center for my daughters and they are members of notable horse riding governing bodies, this did give me reassurance as to their standards :)
