OK...I need your help once again. I have made the choice not to hire a car.....I know a few of you will disagree with my choice, but whats done is done.
The situation is this...I will be staying in a hotel in Maingate East Kissimmee, (Very close to Old Town) they offer shuttles to and from the park. BUT these shuttles, I believe are scheduled for certain times, morning and night. Now on most days this is fine by me, but, I may want to come up the road early or late some days.
 ( Finally he gets to his point) Here is where I need your help....Does anyone know if there is public transport nearby, ie within walking distance, that I could use.
As I say It's close to Old Town and Hwy 192 marker #9 if thats any help.
Thanks Again :)

The public transport for the tri-county area is called Lynx http://www.golynx.com/
I know you can ride the bus from Kissimmee to Orlando and points in between and presumably you can transfer at some point to another bus to WDW Transportation Center. I think you take the bus to downtown Orlando and change to the #50 Magic Kingdom. It takes about two hours or more, I think.
I don't think there is a direct bus Kissimmee-WDW, so the shuttles you mentioned would save much time and hassle. (CORRECTION 7/13 1:00PM MDT: There is a direct public bus Kissimmee-WDW - the Lynx #56. http://www.golynx.com/schedule.cfm?route=56. Sorry, my mistake!)
Our public transport is not up to UK standards.
Somebody else help me on this, as I haven't ridden the bus there in six years.

I'm not sure I did right in mentioning public transportation, as it is not really geared to the tourist trade in Orlando. There is a phone number for transport customer service on their website link (previous post). The map itself can be a bit misleading, so call first. They are expanding the system with the fast growth of the area.
Back in 1999, I flew to Florida and stayed near the Florida Mall in a Days Inn, using public transport to get to WDW, Sea World and Universal. I think I got a bus at Florida Mall on the OBT and transferred to the #50 bus near I-Drive.
I have to stress that the shuttles are far easier, but they do cost more than $1.25 bus fare. I think riding public transport puts you in touch with the real city - but in the case of Orlando and Kissimmee, I'm not sure that's good!
WDW will make certain that you have direct airport transfers if you stay in their resorts. :) :) :)
