Hi all... I started a thread several months ago and got some tips for driving to WDW from New York State. I've been trying to get the mileage for the suggested route that I was given by PumbaNY and agreed to by some others to be the way to go. I am in Walden, NY, in Orange County, about halfway between Newburgh and Middletown.
Does anyone know how far it is, say from the NY/Pennsylvania border when you take 84 West into Pa, to 81 South, to 83 south, to PA581 west, to US-15 south, which becomes 40 east, then I-270 south, to I-495 south, to I-95 south and on to WDW?
I've tried posting once before and also private messaged to PumbaNY all to no avail. If I go on Mapquest, it only gives their suggested route and I can't obtain mileage for this route. :( Any ideas? Thanks!
Looking forward to our 3rd trip in less than one year...but our first time driving down! :)

Afraid I can't help you with the mileage. However, if you look at some maps and pick the points from A - B then B - C etc, you should be able to work it out on Mapquest.

I would use maps.google.com
Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/)

Do you have AAA? They will do a Trip-tik that includes mileage.

Wow Johnie, I used to use that years ago but had forgotten all about it.

I don't know if this helps but we're driving from NJ, close to the Delaware border. 95S is right there. Mapquest states it's 16 1/2 hours from us. It's about a 1/2 hour from our house to 95S. Do you know how long it may take you to get to 95S in Delaware? If so just add that to 16 and that should be how long it will take you. We haven't driven to WDW from NJ yet. We did it from VA. It was about 11 hours. Our plan is to leave in the middle of the night drive and stop for meals. We have a hotel reservation for that night in Brunswick GA, right off of 95. That's about 3 hours out from WDW. We'll get up the next day, have a bite to eat and be there pretty early. So, most of our driving will be done in the middle of the night. We have 2 small children so we decided to make it a 2 day drive. Good luck and I hope you find the info you need :)

We spend the night in Brunswick, GA as well. It's about 8 hours from my house. It's a nice short drive to WDW from there. We Priceline a hotel and usually get Hampton Inn or Baymont Inn and Suites for $25-30.

Thanks everyone...I do have AAA, and I didn't realize they still did the Trip-tik thing. Maybe I'll call and see if I can get in time, as we are leaving in 9 days. I'll check the google maps too.
We have 2 small kids too, and are planning to leave around 4am or so and drive until that evening, and then stop for the night. We didn't make a reservation since we can't be sure where we'll end up. We're hoping to make it at least into South Carolina. Does that sound realistic to anyone?

That's our plan as well. We're going to leave around 3. Maybe earlier if we can't sleep. I prefer to drive at night. We should  be in Brunswick GA by dinner time with a couple of good stops mixed in. That will give the kids some time to run around before bed time. We chose to do most of our driving the first day instead of spliting it up. I'd rather chug along and know the next day will be easy.
I don't know about your timing but it just seems to me that you'd be further than SC. Again, that's just a quess

We have a reservation for a brand new Holiday Inn, right off of 95. I figured the kids eat free and they have a pool for the kids to blow off some steam after such a long time in the car. Do you remember how long your drive was from Brunswick? Mapquest puts it at about 3 hours. Is this about right? Thanks bunches :D

From Brunswick to WDW? Roughly 3 hours. It would depend on traffic. It can get pretty congested in Jacksonville and of course, Orlando.

Thanks Johnie! It will be a Sunday morning so the roads may be a little more forgiving. Here's hoping

I'd like to throw in an idea. It's such a long drive from NY!
The train from New York to Orlando is fun. http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/am2Route/Vertical_Route_Page&c=am2Route&cid=1081442674074&ssid=136
You can get a roomette and eat in the dining car. Arrive in Florida relaxed and ready to "hit the parks".

Yes, PrincessHeather, it is very close! Time to get into full packing mode...We plan to leave around 4am or so...
I did call AAA and request a Triptik; they said they would put a rush on it and I should get it next week. I gave the specific directions to them and they were trying to map it out. Thanks everyone!

I live in NYC and have driven to WDW the last 3 years in a row,it might be 4 years in a row I cant remember right now.It is a good idea to leave as early as possible because you want avoid the D.C. area around rush hours. We also leave around 4-5 am and stop in Savannah usually around 6-7 pm.From Savannah i think it is about 5 more hours.Good luck on your trip. :)

Thanks Butterhead. Do you take 95 all the way down or try and avoid the DC area?

I found my favorite mileage chart:
http://www.dingbatway.com/mileage/usa-mileage.html
1090 miles is a long way - it seems too far for one day! Savannah overnight is just the ticket!

Victorlowe, we are definitely stopping for the night...no need to worry about that! Thanks again. The mileage chart doesn't seem to be working right now; I'll try again later.
