Following on from my question about price of the hotel etc

I am wondering how easy it is to get from Disney resort hotel to universal studios, seaworld etc, as looking at the Quicksilver Tours it will get very exspensive travelling to and back 5 times so you get to see everything

I guess thats the advantage of the international drive hotels and they seems to come with free transport to universal, disney etc

What does everyone else do (taking into account none of us can drive)

There are shuttles that will go to parks from Disney

Really, that would be much better as i was getting worried how costly the traveling was going to be,

Do you have any info on these services? EG, where do they go from, how much and where do they go to

Would be great if i could research a little before we go

We never drive. When we go to Universal and IOA, we have tried public transport and found it to take far too long. We now go by taxi and it costs between $22-$28, for a single trip. Seaworld is cheaper, about $20. As we always stay onsite, we find that it wouldn't be profitable to hire a car as we spend most of the time at Disney apart from one or two days at Universal. The hotel will order taxis for you which arrive within ten minutes.

This is spot on! Exactly right IMHO.

www.golynx.com is the link to public transport, but I can't really recommend it! I don't think it is meant for the tourist trade!

There are local shuttles on I-Drive as well, which also go north up to Universal and south down to Sea World: http://www.internationaldriveorlando.com/iride_trolley.htm.

As you mentioned, many I-Drive hotels either provide free (or recommend) various shuttle buses to WDW, which is over ten miles away. They are better than Lynx public transport by far IMHO, although nothing like our own top-notch Quicksilver, of course.

Last November we went from the Carribean beach resort to Sea world by cab. It only cost us $20 i thought that was cheap.

Couldn't you get a car rental for that? Maybe only part of your stay? And although others swear by Disney transport, I have not found the busses to be very good. The few times we've used them, we regretted it. We've even gotten stuck stopped on the monorail for 15-20 minutes.

The Lynx (public transportation) goes from the Ticket and Transportation Center to Sea World/I-Drive ($1.25 ea. way, exact change): http://www.golynx.com/schedule.cfm?route=50 http://www.golynx.com/viewmap.cfm?route=50

Lynx is basic county public transport with all sorts of folks riding - nothing fancy and no room for much luggage. If you are used to public transport at home, it will not seem bad, but most folks coming to WDW are expecting more luxury than that! I don't mind riding the bus myself, as I have ridden public buses in dozens of cities abroad and in the US.

There's also the I-Ride trolley buses which run on International Drive - can't remember the exact route but you'll be able to look it up on the net somewhere or on the orlando info website (the only official tourist information centre in Orlando). The I-Ride have 1 day right up to a 7 day prepaid tickets which you can buy in shops. If you need to get off and change buses you can get a transfer ticket too.

I went to Orlando for the first time in 2002 and stayed on International Drive but neither myself nor my mum drive and we found it easy to get around. The only thing was we missed some evening displays and shows at some parks due to not wanting to miss the last bus but this year we will just get taxis the odd night we stay late!

Hope this helps. :D
