hi all,
im travelling to orlando during the first 2 weeks of september and from looking at various weather sites and these forums im not expecting the weather to be too great.
i was just wondering though what happens in the various theme parks when it rains or a thunderstorms breaks out? Do all the outdoor attractions such as rollercoasters etc close still the bad weather clears???

cheers

September is the height of hurricane season. The temp. will be hot and sticky.

That said, most of the parks clear out if the rain starts. Since the majority of Disney rides are indoors, they keep right on going. Things like BTMRR may close down for a bit as do the water parks. Usually this dones not happen with a light rain, just the heavy t-storms that Florida is known for.

:Welcome: to the UOG!

As has been said when the thunder storms are close then any outside rollercoaster or attraction is closed and at the waterparks and at hotel pools everyone is made to get out of the water and seek shelter somewhere suitable. As for the lighter showers its not too bad as you can walk around and will soon dry in the warmer months, if not put on a poncho :D It is amazing how much quieter the parks are just after rain/storms.

We just put on our ponchos and get on the rides! If the storm isn't too bad, the parks are much emptier and it's a great time to get on the main attractions! We once visited the Animal Kingdom where it rained all day - we went on every attraction without a single wait!

yep sometimes the rainy days are the best cause its empty, was once at blizzard beach and there was some rain, the water park emptied but we stayed and 30 min later the sun came out and we had the water park virtually too ourselves

Yep...like everyone else said...grab a poncho. The only scary time was at typhoon Lagoon...in the distance there were dark dark clouds...lightening etc...they ordered everyone out of the water. One of the life guards was telling us, that people get struck there every year...there were some really dumb people there too...not listening to the lifeguards...we got out and left...It tends to get rainy with thunderstorms late in the day...we always hit the water parks right at opening and leave early afternoon...
