As far as stadiums go? I hate the Devil Rays stadium. The upside for a visitor is there is zero chance of a rainout since it's domed. The Devil Rays themselves are horrible. I'll reserve comment on the Yankees

Hi MISTA B,
We got tickets for 15th August. Are you driving to Tampa just for the game or for the whole day?
We were thinking about getting there around 3-4 hours early, maybe get a tour and a bite to eat?
Whitesox for the World Series '05.

Mista B, i think whats important is the experience- i 'love' baseball and have been to quite a few games. I saw the Atlanta Braves at home and i actually found that going to the local team was more fun- sure the baseball wasn't as good but it was the whole experience.
Take me out to the ball game............

The majority of teams do not do tours on game days. You'll see that the gates open about 2 hours before the game and you can watch batting practice. You can find out more information about Tropicana Field here (http://tampabay.devilrays.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/tb/ballpark/index.jsp)

You should have a grand time! Baseball is fairly quick to understand (at least the main rules, the subtleties come with more familiarity).
The NYY are my all time favorite team (then those sweet Cubbies) so I'm jealous that you are going!
The Devil Rays try. Can't say they don't. 'Course with the seriously weird season the Yankees are having they just may end up getting beat by the Devil Rays! :hehe:
The Stadium isn't so bad. It's not Yankee stadium, but it's ok for all that. :D
Enjoy every minute!

We went to See them in June. It was our first experience at a game and we really enjoyed it. In America its got a real family feel to it, everyone just sits, eats and drinks and watches the game when anything important is happening! I didnt think I would enjoy it but myself and my hubby had a great time. There were very few tourists there, mostly locals, so it made you feel a bit of the real America. We will certainly book again for next year and onhce again tie it in with a day at lovely clearwater beach. Its quite a drive back to Orlando though, so we might concider an overnight stay this time around...have fun!claire.
