Roadworks update wanted

Hi all
Can anyone give me any updates on the roadworks and delays.We are flying into Orlando international on 10/08/05, We will then be driving across to Clearwater Beach. Any info on roadworks/delays/best route would be greatly appreciated.Thank you

They are still going on. There are construction areas at the Intersection of I-4 and US192 and some more about 10 miles ahead in Polk county.

They are scheduled to continue until 2007 if they stay on schedule. There's really no other easy way to get to Clearwater but via I-4.

As I have said on another thread, we were there in May.

We stayed at St Pete's beach.We landed at about 1800 with TCD into Sanford.
The drive to the coast was very slow due to the road works.
It seems you get going for a few miles only to be caught in a massive tailback every so often. The roadworks start at 2000 until 0400 , Monday through to Thursday.
After clearing customs and getting our car, we caught all the delays on route, (we flew on a Thursday), we got to our hotel at 2345.
