Hot and still fairly humid. You'll still see thunderstorms most days

It storms almost every afternoon... blinding deluge for 20 min to an hour and then the sun comes out again. September is almost as hot as August. Look out for those pesky hurricanes... September is the BIG month for those!

Hurricanes mainly hit southern Florida though so you should not have too much to worry about.

I have been in September for the past 2 years and to be honest we've been really lucky with the weather, (barring the hurricane for a few days last year :) ) we certainly didn't have storms every day.....we must have been lucky !

That is not true by a long strech. In fact, South Florida had not been hit dead on by a major cane since Andrew in 1992 until Palm Beach got Frances last year.

We've been a couple of times in Sept and it's hot and humid. We had thunderstorms pretty frequently as well. They don't last too long but they do come.

I'd pack shorts, tshirts/tank tops (all in light colors).

That's so true JuniorMickey! Last year's 'canes did major damage on the west coast, the panhandle, central Florida and the east coast. They are incredibly unpredictable.

Keep and eye on the long range weather forecast (useful for huge storms that may be brewing, but not so great for the day to day stuff) know that you will get rain and be prepared for hot, humid days.

Be sure to have extra footwear. You will definitely get at least one pair soaked and need to let them dry before wearing again if you don't have some sort of waterproof shoe or sandal with you.

The temps begin to cool down, but rainfall is less.

I've found the Croc/Airwalk shoes to be a real lifesaver in the torrential downpours. They can get soaked, but the strap holds them on your feet, once it's put over the heel. When the rain stops they drive off easily and completely with a paper towel, and you are back in business.

Yep, you'll see the afternoon (or as it's been lately noonish) rains start to back off at the end of September. October becomes the most gorgeous month of all. Warm, humidity is lessening, swimming is just wonderful, and the rains slow or stop. Doesn't get much better.

MNSSHP and FWF are just two added bonuses of October! :D

So does the rain cool down the humidity?

JuniorMickey

During the summer? nope. Sometimes seems to make it worse :sigh:

While you still get the storms in September, you'll have a bit less of the humidity the later in the month it gets

I will have to look for these croc/airwalk shoes!! We are going 9/29 - 10/7 hopefully the thunderstorms will be not an everyday event (although it does clear out the park a bit). We usually go to WDW around the middle to later part of October but free dining package got us there earlier!! We will have fun rain or shine :D

But Orlando doesnt get hit much does it. Well that was according to news reports I had seen.

Orlando was hit by 4 storms last year and yes, they do get effects from hurricanes. I don't want to scare anyone but that's the reality of hurricane season in Florida. There is no such thing as a "no hit zone"

LOL! That's a typo in my previous post! The shoes don't "drive off" your feet they DRY off quite nicely! LOL!

The humidity is generally unaffected by the rainfall. It is a separate torment. :( With the approach of fall and the change in the air streams less moist air is drawn into the state which reduces the humidity levels. Yes, the rain does add some humidity, but it's not nearly as oppressive in the fall and winter and spring as it is in the summer.
