View Full Version : How would you spice up World Showcase?

After reading the post about the possible Brother Bear ride in Canada, my wheels started turning. What could possibly spice up the world showcase where attendance would increase and the world showcase could possibly be looked at in a whole new aspect.

In my opinion I think that Disney needs to build a ride. Some sort of thrill ride that would get peoples attention yet teach them something about the country in which the ride is in. I have nothing against the current World Showcase, but every time I go to WDW I usually only visit it once. A new exciting ride would bring visitors back multiple times. There is not much space around the countries so the ride could not be huge but could still be fairly large. A lot of the countries have no real attraction at all. A new thrill ride in this area could really give that boost that World Showcase has been needing.

Do a Tower of Terror on the Eiffel Tower :D

Bring back the Tapestry of Nations parade - magic beyond words

Oh wouldn't that be wonderful! I really miss the Tapestry of Nations parade and all that it symbolized. I didn't like Tapestry of Dreams as much, but did like it overall.

I'd like to see more emphasis on the culture of each country represented and less on merchandizing. I'd like to see the food in each country returned to be representative of that country, not catering to a "let's not offend anyone's palate" approach that it has become.

I was so very disappointed in China this past visit. I'd taken my little six year old guest into the main pavilion to show him the ethnic costumes of China only to find them gone. They were replaced with a repetitious display of Hong Kong Disney. What a wasted effort. I wanted him to see and learn about China, not another WDW park.

I'm not sure a thrill ride would do it for me, as I'm not into them. However, a tower of terror type attraction in the Eiffel Tower does have some merit! :D

By the way, it's nice to see you Goofy11. Hope all is going well with you!

I dont think that the imagineers would be allowed to build a tower of terror eiffel tower as it would give the paris tourist attraction a band reputation because everyone would think that you would plummit down to the ground every time you went on it! I also have heard alot about the harry potter attraction in england but i dont think it'll work in EPCOT and be much better in mgm. I would much rather see a Mary Poppins attraction!
And 1 more thing, guys I have some really interesting ideas at the 'If you were in charge of walt disney world' and no ones posting and I would really like to hear all views so if you have time please come and have a read!

Well you can't get more authentic than Britain, as soon as we stepped foot in the area it started to rain :rotfl:

LOL! Triciacarole! Isn't it amazing the way WDW does that?

I would add more countries. Spain would be nice, as would India and perhaps something from Africa and maybe even Australia.

Turkey is going to be a special featured country this year at the Food and Wine Festival (along with Australia). That should be quite interesting! :excited:

I would love to see more countries added. India and Australia would be great. :) I enjoy Epcot so much because of the countries.

I think India would be the perfect addition - taj mahal, silk stores, delicious cuisine. mmmmm......

I would change the Rio del Tiempo ride.... it is aweful!!!!

And yes  add more countries!!!!!!
India sounds like a great suggestion.-.-- I had a friend who just went to India, and she loved the place, but hated the smell of it... so.. and Epcot versions "sans" the smell would be excellent!

I love the Rio del Tiempo ride! It is just a relaxing ride with a little annoying song that gets stuck in your head. Sometimes around the house that song just pops into my head and I start singing.

I don't believe they will add an African country because it is represented in AK, as well as some Asian countries.

I like the Mary Poppins idea, though I don't think they would have much room to put it in. If there was a Australia then they could possibly do a ride based on the Rescuers Down Under.

i think it would be better to put austrailia in AK

one thing a lot of people don't think about is the amount of space that Epcot had. I've looked at the park from a satalite imaging program and the space around that lagoon is very minimal.. if they were to add more countries you'd prolly lose some of the other attractions

Well said Tink. These are also the reasons we love World Showcase. I would also like to see them add another country.....Greece would be my choice. Wonderful food, great culture and a tie-in for a Disney movie. They could make a thrill ride based on Greek Mythology.....call it Mount Olympus.

FI, we have been told on Backstage tours that EPCOT has LOTS of room to expand. That people can't even see the real picture.

Oooh yes, Australia at the Food and Wine Festival - I enjoyed some nice wines there on our last trip!

Yes, this will be the third year for Australia to be a special featured country. I really enjoy their wine seminars, but would like to see a change in the food selections.

Even the FWF has come under the "let's make it neutral" attack. :(

DisneyFreak, I'd love to see Greece! There certainly would be a wealth of information to choose from in presenting that country.

I'd also like to see the Millenium Village concept return. I really enjoyed the representations of all those countries such as Ethiopia, Israel, and Peru.

Anything to bring people together, to forge a bond of unity on a global scale. That's not a philosophy beyond the reaches of Walter Elias Disney.

USCWest, I've learned the same thing. EPCOT is huge and was built in a manner to allow expansion without infringing on the current countries.

I'd like to see eastern European countries represented too.

I would like to see Greece added on too! At least a Greek restaurant, yummy!

Also, a South American country like Brazil, Argentina, or Chile would be cool too.

I think a downhill snow ride would be neat. Or they could simulate what it would be like to be caught in an avalanche.

ugg that would scare me

Yea...most people forget about the South American countries other than Mexico. I don't know what kind of ride or attraction could possibly be associated with the country though. Actually, after thinking about it, a mountain themed downhill ride could be used.

I have a few aerail photos that show what the back of the world showcase looks like.

The zoomed in portion shows a gap where another country could be placed.
