The travel show on ITV last night was looking for people to call them with their travel horror stories & they will pursue them on your behalf for a answer, so heres your chance to get TCD to answer for their conduct,
http://www.packageholidayundercover.co.uk/
Click on the link and get in touch with them.
I look forward to hearing TCD explain themselves
The more people who have suffered at TCD,s shoddiness that call them the better, it's no good just posting your experiences on a forum when you have an opportunity to bring the faults to the attention of the upper management.

I saw this too and looked on the site just after the show and saved it to my favourites so that if we have a bad experience again this time (yes we have had a bad experience before with TCD and are stupid enough to have booked again:oops: ) we will complain to them. I have already had one appalling customer service call, its funny how before I had paid the balance I only ever got really lovely people who couldn't do enough but as soon that balance was paid all I have had is very rude people who couldn't really care less. I should have told her about this site:lol: Is anyone flying out on the 6th October with TCD at midday? Well it could be then they aren't really 100% sure what time it is - i kid you not!

you're telling me - but I will say after I read the 117 posts for TCD...possibly the worst airline in the world I did phone to query how much we would lose if we cancelled, then checked out BA and depressed myself even more when I found they were actually cheaper:rolleyes: But every cloud has a silver lining, I can now book 2006 trip with BA and actually look forward to it rather than dreading this up and coming nightmare  Then again saying all that I should shut up and think myself lucky we are going at all; not everyone can say they can go on hols every year

Funny really but we've just booked an unexpected "oh go on then" trip and I thought to keep the cost down, I'd actually try calling TCD instead of virgin.
Tried tcd website, kept saying "error, please call".. so I called, guy answered the phone "yes?" oh ermmmm I'd like to know if you do flight only "yes when" well I want to go to orlando from manchester "when." sometime in september? whens cheapest? "when do you want to go" erm sept 1st? "where from" well as I said manchester "where to" erm orlando?? "£650" that seems quite a load for just flights "do you want it or not?" erm "bye"
REALLY tacky and icky phone manner. I called back spoke to a nicer woman who said no there wouldnt be seat back tv, yes there would be limited free drinks, no they didn't have backup planes.
anyway, thought oh well, forget the trip really, it was only supposed to be a cheapy one... but before I finally gave up, I called Virgin. Oh yeah they said, great time to go, all the children back at school, we can do it for 220 each all in. [ps. that was the normal price without using frequent flyer miles or anything]
Not only is tcd pretty pathetic all round, but they're not always cheaper either!

We had the same thing with TCD, they leave a lot to be desired in the customer service stakes. :grrr:
The guy at Virgin FC couldn't do enough for us this week. We have 4 bookings for our Christmas flights so we could use our miles. It took him ages going through various ways to wangle it for us, but wangle he did and he put a big smile on all our faces knowing we'll be there for Christmas. :micbounce

The TCD MD, or such-like, has been known to frequent another Disney forum and pick up on some negative experiences of their members and "correct" them personally......doesn't seem to have improved their overall customer service though.

The flights came in okay this morning though.
I was wondering about these new regulations though (for all airlines not just TCD) and what if they don't cancel the flight, they class it as delayed for a ridiculous amount of time, does that mean they don't have to pay compensation. Are there rules about the amount of time they can delay before it has to be officially cancelled?
Keith
July 29th, 2005, 18:22
yeah they're european regulations and they do have to compensate, but the first few "compensations" are pretty mild from what I remember like they had to give out drinks/sandwiches or something. However, I think after five hours you can cancel the flight altogether and there's another clause in there saying if the delay makes the journey "pointless" you can get a full refund.
In practice I dont think they're going out of their way to tell people though. (there's also a massive exemption for weather or "factors outside the airlines control".. sigh)
from msn.com
Passengers with flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km with delays for three hours or more and for all longer flights delayed for four hours or more, should be given meals and refreshments and two free telephone calls, e-mails or faxes.
When the delay is at least five hours passengers are entitled to a refund of their ticket and a free return flight to the point of origin should the flight no longer serve any purpose. Otherwise the airlines are required to reroute passengers to their final destination. Again, meals, refreshments, lodging, phone and email are required at airline’s expense, if necessary.

My family were due on the 11.15am to Orlando. They got there at 8am and all they keep getting told is that they will be updated in 2hrs time. When the 2 hrs are up they just tell them they will be updated in another 2 hrs.
My parents always go with Virgin, United or something of that sort of quality but unfortunately friends who are with them wanted the cheapest option. This is what they end up with.
Although they are the cheapest, they should have no right to treat customers like this. Hopefully they will go bust, and be quick about it.

Sezzy do you know if they had a look, did they say what they thought? I am going to call again next week and reiterate all the bad things that have been said and see if they have anymore to say as this is ridiculous, I know that people usually only spread bad experiences but not many people have stood up for TCD, and it is looking like almost every flight is late and every plane dirty and with technical problems. Has any other thread ever had 121 responses like the "TCD...possibly the worst airline in the world" it looks like the average is around 20ish!!! How about if we send this website to the ITV packkage hols complaints website so they can see how many people have complained? I thought we went on hols to relax but this is more stressful than work:rolleyes:

Lots of threads have more than a hundred responses.
Please do NOT get us involved with this, especially by involving us with ITV.
I don't want to have to close or remove this thread, but if people are going to use it to further their complaints with TCD or ITV, or whoever, then it may come to that.
I understand that you are angry, but please do not get us caught up in it.

It's true, the ITV link is a point of reference only, mainly for people who want to take their complaint further than TCD's excellent customer services dept.
It is intended for that purpose, please dont mention the forum.

I've just spoken to my parents. They have checked in, ready to fly at 11.30am but don't sound too optimistic. I believe one of the aircraft was struck by a ground vehicle but that doesn't explain why both flights were delayed overnight.
I will let you know when they finally get going.

If the flight leaves at 11:30 am, they will have only been delayed for 24 hours and 15 minutes!!!!
All they were given was a night in a Manchester airport hotel and if they want any compensation, they need to claim of their own insurance. First though an excess of £120 need to be paid. You can now see that compensation is out of the question.
They've told me that the attitude of the staff was pretty poor. I presume they are also fed up with having to face angry customers daily.
Fingers crossed for an 11:30 am departure. One of their group booked late on to the trip and had to fly on another airline. He's been in Orlando by himself for the past 13 hours. He has no driving licence and very little money on him!!!
I can't imagine many of our family or friends will be using TCD ever again.

We also claimed off our travel insurance. Hope your parents are on the way soon! :fingers:

" DELAYS
On scheduled flights most airlines will offer meagre refreshments, and on long delays, overnight accommodation - though they are not bound to. Any consequential cost you may incur because of the delay, for example loss of sales through missing a meeting with a client, is a strict no/no.
On charter flights your rights will normally confined to the brochure small print, some, but not all, will offer some small compensation for long delays and supply refreshments. Read the small print before booking.
When buying travel insurance shop around to check the compensation offered for delays over 12 hours. Some will, some won't and the amount will vary. "
The above is taken from a travel rights site.
It sounds great once the horse has bolted, but as mentioned above, read the small print before booking.
No excuses should be accepted for apalling treatment of customers, I think the main gripe of people is lack of information from the carrier, but I have seen it myself on programmes even when delays are down to weather conditions there are people who are still going ballistic at the check in staff, so the coin comes up both sides of the argument.
How has a vehicle collided with an aircraft? you cannot even blame tcd for that one if it's correct what happened, lets face it, travel companies could tell you anything to pacify you!
I just hope this time next week we are sat on our aircraft for take off! :afraid:

I would just like to say to those UOG members who have booked holidays with TCD (especially the first timers) and are reading this thread with dread and panic. Please don't start stressing too much......I have travelled twice with TCD and not had any problems. Yes all airlines have problems and delays and yes TCD are not always the best in Customer Service, but this does seem to be recent problem with all these delays. I have had flight delays over the years with Virgin, First Choice and Cosmos and not got much info out of any of them.......I am not saying TCD are the best, but please don't let this thread panic you.......Chances are you will have a good flight and you will defiantly have a fantastic holiday.

OMG I am feeling so sorry for everyone connected with yesterdays and todays flight,it is only 6 days till we go and if i had read the posts about TCD(which now stands for travel cancelled or delayed)i would be "bricking it"as for dw,who is not a good flyer,it would be akin to a condemmed man having the last meal and then saying his execution is delayed for a day, they say that you only get what you pay for but having read reports about their prices they cant even use that as an excuse(however flimsy that sounds).sorry to sound like victor meldrew when it is not even my problem, hopefully all the passengers will get away asap(with my commisorations)

Madmac, so sorry not to reply before, been away at a festival for the last few days. To be honest, she was very polite and said food and drink would be complimentary, she could not guarantee what kind of plane we would be on etc, obviously they hope delays would not happen etc, but nothing really concrete, I suppose there was no way she could promise us that everything would be alright because she knows that is out of her hands. Not sure if they did look at site, but she was interested and did write down address, I think if I worked for a company, I would have to look and get bosses too as well, as there isn't a lot of point going to work if you dont have any pride in it.
