Has anyone done this, I think I remember that Kiltie did the ride along last year, but has anyone actually driven.
I know that Chris would really like this and when we go next year I was thinking about arranging it for him as an early birthday present. Don't know what I'll do with myself whilst he's there though:shrug:

Hi Wendy.............I arranged this for DH as a surprise earlier this year.
He did the 'rookie' experience which is the 8 laps. I stayed in the area the whole time with the camcorder :) As far as I can remember, everyone who was going to drive had a partner there and they stayed to watch.
DH loved it........said he would definitely do it again because he was just getting used to the controls of the car and how it handled etc when it was all over. You can however do a longer experience.
We bought a plaque with his photo on it alongside the car etc.
I didn't get bored at all. I found it quite interesting listening to the do's and don'ts of handling the car....right up to how to use the fire extinguisher
You can actually watch Chris the whole time he is in the car....apart from a couple of seconds each lap when the cars go behind a building.
After everyone has done their laps, you go back inside and the drivers are all presented with a certificate which has their lap speeds and fastest speed printed on it.
I think we were done by about 11.30am so, we just went on to AK for the rest of the day. :) ......well, once DH had lost his 'jelly legs'

I think Kiltie did do it and while Chris is doing his male macho drive a car fast in a circle thing, we'll just come fetch you and take you for some retail therapy :D

Yep, Kiltie did the ride along last year and loved it
I think they go faster in the ride along than when they're driving by themselves
He also bought the plaque with his photo on it :Photo:

Your right John, DH did drive in the rookie class once. I'm still wondering if it was the right thing to do or not.......................cause now he had to build his own and race at our local track. And now next year DS and DD will be racing.
Wendy L he will love it, but don't say I didn't warn you when the racing gets in his blood so bad that building a car is being talked about.  :D
