Well he never appeared last night but is forecast to reach TS strength today sometime.

I think it will remain quiet until mid august when the "wet pahse returns" and activity should pick up.:(

At least this storm is well out to sea and no where near Florida.

ok... don't take this the wrong way but... why the interest in non-disney/florida based weather patterns?

I mean I get that they form a long way off shore and can swing into florida, its just that a few people have messaged me asking if all these warnings on a disney site mean that disney is in the middle of storms every other day which of course it isn't sooooo ????

I don't want to stifle anyone's freedom to talk about the weather, heck I'm english, I can talk about weather better than anyone  but seems to me if we spotlight only the ones that are real threats to Florida/Disney, it would perhaps be a little less panic inspiring for people ;) ?

But if people read them they would realise that NOT all storms are a threat to Florida. I alos think that just because they aren't near Florida doesn't mean it won;t affect someone who is visiting Florida as a huricane in mid Atlantic could cause travel disruption.

yeah and it's only one person's opinion perhaps but when people see the titles on a Disney board, I think they do feel it's imminent and a threat to Disney if you see what I mean?

The feedback we're getting from members is that it's causing panic, reading threads about *every* storm that forms, no matter how small or large it is.

Storms take a while to move across the ocean and form into hurricanes. Let's try only posting about the ones that are becoming hurricanes rather than every minor storm out there. I'm sure that will still give people plenty of notice :)

Have to agree with Claire - the only time you hear about a Hurricane in the UK is when its about to hit or has hit. So if you post threads about every Storm people will then realise that the chances of a Hurricane hitting Disney is very slim.

Perhaps a consistent subject then for people who only want to read about ones that are actually a real threat and not every swell out in the ocean ;-)

something like [non-disney] or something better that I can't think of right now  seriously though, so that people not that interested in weather can ignore them all knowing they're not missing out on true imminent useful warnings?

Be not Afraid folks - instead post your views :ship:

Be not afraid of what ?

The majority of these storms are not going to be a threat to Florida though, so what's the point of posting about them, it's just creating panic and upset, especially amongst those members who live in Florida and have lived through hurricanes.
By saying 'not an immediate threat to Florida' is still implying that it *could* be a threat to Florida.

But people are afraid JJ. For some it may be fascinating to watch these storms develop and track them. For others it's plain scary :afraid:

You know the number of hurricanes that hit Florida last year? They were reported on here in plenty of time to give those travelling over there notice :)

Claire L

Yes jj don't kn0w why we bother sometimes :(

joanne

Don't worry JJ, just try and restrict posts in future to storms/hurricanes that are looking to be a definite threat to Florida, rather than every TD that develops  :)

Claire, please don't be like that.
We know you've been posting about these storms out of concern that they might become a problem, and it's nice that you care.
But as explained above, it's causing more concern and upset for other members. We're merely asking you to just post about ones that are looking to be a definite threat to Florida.
This is a Florida weather forum after all

Honestly there is more attention to storms that may or may not come near us here than on my local news. I can see where the attention to all of these waves, depressions, tropical storms etc. can freak someone out. So far this year, we're lucky, nothing has come near Orlando (or in my case, Southeast Florida). I understand that because of last year, everyone's guard is up, and it should be, but talking about a storm that is nowhere near the state, isn't going to be anywhere near the state is just worrisome for someone not familiar with these storms.

I understand that being in the UK you don't get the news as we do, but trust me, if a storm looks like it's heading towards us, there will be information. If you look back to last year, we have some very long threads where OKWTink, SorcerMickey, myself and other locals keep everyone informed with what's happening.

 I just hate to see people worry needlessly
