Seems to me I read somewhere that

A) Each cabin on the ships had a mini fridge and
B) You are able to order a beer or soda for them.

I looked all over and can't seem to find any reference to them anywhere. Any ideas?

Welcome to the Boards!!!

Hope we can help you plan your DCL vacation!!!

Yes and yes  .

There are mini-fridges in every stateroom, and yes, there are several beverage packages for purchase, including beer. There is a soda station on Deck 9 Aft by the Mickey pool with free soda.

What we do is buy one of the DCL novelty glass beer glasses for $9.99, it holds 16 ounces (2 beers), which comes filled. Refills on that glass are $4.95. A pretty good deal since Mrs. SM doesn't drink beer and I just get a few refills during our cruises.

Check out my photos of our Disney Cruise vacations, links are in my signature.

....but please don`t try to take your own alcohol on board. I`m told it`s a no no.

Thanks. Is that beer package something you can pre order?

You just buy it when you board the ship  .

The first thing you do as you board is go to eat either at Parrot Cay on Deck 3 or Beach Blanket Buffet on Deck 9. As you finish eating and start exploring the ship, there will be several stations throughout Deck 9 and elevator lobbies with crew members explaining and selling the different beverage packages.

Is that really the case? We're cruising on Disney Wonder next June and it will be our 3rd cruise. The other two have been on P&O's Oceana and you are perfectly entitled to take your own alcoholic drinks on board and keep/drink in your cabin. I didn't think Disney would be any different so now you have got me concerned (DH likes a whisky in the evening sometimes while we sit on our balcony and watch the world go by)!!

You know, you may be right Susie. I thought I`d read somewhere that you could not take alcohol on board , however there is no mention of it in the guidelines.
They do not allow coolers though, maybe this is where I thought it referred to beer!

We've done it  .

As a rule of thumb, Disney upmarks wines 4 times their normal price. Mrs. SM doesn't really drink but we like to open a bottle of wine on special occassions and she refuses to pay the 4x upmark on the ship. So we bring it with us in our day bag.

Right after boarding and eating, we go to the stateroom and drop the bottle off. Yes, they say you cannot go to your stateroom until a specific time, but we've done it several times. Chances are the stateroom attendant will be turning the section, but just tell him/her that you just need a minute to put the bottle in the fridge. If you are nice and friendly, they will be happy and friendly back, not that they are not happy and friendly all the time  . Take that time to meet them and make some casual conversation, their nametag says where they are from so talk about that.

Chances are that when you come back the bottle will be in a wine chiller with glasses waiting for you  .

We had no problem bringing alcohol aboard. We had spent 4 days in Palm Beach before the cruise and had a bottle of wine, some rum and a couple of "airplane" size bottles of various things left over. The little bottles were in our luggage and the wine and rum in our carry on. I told the lady at the x-ray machine that we had it in our bag and she said no problem. This is a much different from Carnival and RCCL where they seem to be a bit stricter. Got home last nite, no one turned down my bed. Sigh.
