I have just read another thread (on another forum) about people making their own door signs for their cabin doors. Is this really the case? Do people really do that?
I have cruised before in the UK with P&O and I think if anyone 'tampered' with their cabin door like that people would have a heart attack - maybe I am just being snobbish but I'm getting a bit concerned that my hugely looked forward to Disney Cruise is going to feel tacky and cheap.
Please reassure me that this isnt the case

 Not the case, never seen one in 9 Disney cruises I've been on.
You will see some people doing small decorations with a balloon or two on the door knob to celebrate a birthday, specially a child. Something like that will be up for an afternoon, but that is the extent of it.

Yep, it happens, and it's pretty neat, too. My mother-in-law made a bunch of signs for our two cabins. You can make them on the computer, and put them onto magnets. I don't know how she did it. But, I'm assuming you can get all the stuff you need, at an office supply store. But, the doors are metal. So, we stuck ours all over, our doors, and got lots of compliments. I saw a few others, but it wasn't very widespread.
I thought it was pretty cool, though. It's your vacation, do everything you can to make it more fun!!!

We saw a couple of signs for weddings and anniversaries but it wasn't that widespread. There were a few photos as well but it didn't look out of place at all.

Granted we only walked along our own deck past staterooms (for the most part), but I only saw one door decorated with signs - for a couple celebrating their honeymoon! They were Disney-related signs that had been laminated and had magnets put on the back.
We saw a couple of doors decorated with balloons and streamers for birthdays. None of the doors looked "tacky". They looked like the people staying in those rooms were celebrating a joyous occasion! And I smiled when I saw them!
