Hi everyone:overhere:
Does anyone have a view on short trips to Orlando and WDW from UK, 1 wk or less. Can it work or do you need longer. I've always been of the opinion that you need 10 days - 2 weeks for anywhere (even Europe) but since my recent (and 1st) trip to Orlando I could be persuaded otherwise.:hehe: But jet lag really hit me hard on returning. I suppose I'm just looking for an excuse to book again before summer 2006. Whadyall think?:wiggle:

How does 5 days grab you?
Redkop and I are going for just 5 days.:D 5 days is better than nothing and we are going for a wedding, so that makes it worthwhile.:)

I think if it was for a wedding it would be wonderful, but I personally couldn't go for a 'normal' holiday for less than 10 days. We did 10 days last year and considering you loose the first and last day (pretty much) to travelling, you only get 8 'real' days in the park. I think I'd save the money and really do it properly next time you go.

So less than 10 I don't think I could do........which is why we're going for 3 weeks next year :)

Wow 5 days. That seems really short. That doesn't include travelling surely. I suppose I'm just an old traditionalist really. 2 weeks summer, 1 week Easter, 2 weeks Christmas etc. But I hope yiou have a ball on the wedding trip and look forward to the reports!
Youre converting me!

Yes, that includes travelling. You can still drink on the plane.:D
It's a lot easier without the kids. You just get up and go. I did solo last year and the time saved not having to get everyone organised means you fit loads in.
If we can remember what we did, there'll be reports...................don't hold your breath though.

I'm sure a week or less can be done but its probably really hectic. Before you know it its time to return. But I'd love to go back again before summer 2006 but I only have Christmas and Easter - really expensive.

Ive had short trips of a week to Disney and have done solo trips in past years to various places for a week or even less!

It CAN work in fact some of my fondest memories are from my short trips!

We'll it was solo-ish, in the end. It was great! Doing what I wanted, when I wanted. I loved it.
I'd go to WDW for a long weekend if I could................and I probably will, one day.:D

Anyone else done short trips to Disney? Or solo trips to Disney. Surely Disney must be shared

Disney shared is brilliant.. love it... but Disney (or any place) solo has its own excitement and it's surprising how different it can look!

Totally agree, Keith. I'd rather do Disney solo than with others that didn't love it as much as me. I went and looked at stuff that nobody else but me is interested in. I ate where I wanted. I hopped to whichever park I wanted, I never got in my room before Midnight and I was out again not long after 7am. It was a blast. Even the flight was stressless.:D

I'd go for a week no problem! The more you do the flight, the shorter it seems each time :D We have 1 x 16 night trip and 2 x 12 night trips planned between now and May. I'd rather go more often than for longer once a year

I don't think I could do Disney solo. I reckon I'd enjoy it but I'd be thinking. Oh she'd like that or so and so would enjoy that or I wish he was here to enjoy this!:) Or even worse, I remember the time we did that together.
As for short trips 5 days on site would have to be my minimum stay in Orlando and this doesn't include travelling from the UK.:wiggle:

hi
definitely worth it for a week, we managed to get flights for £300 for two and budget but clean accommodation (a place we had stayed at before) for$20 we assured ourselves we could not afford not to go!! 'cos we knew we only had a few days we were more relaxed certainly would do it again if the chance arose:sigh: :sigh:

My flight is only five hours, and I won't go for less than 7 days. With airport and transit time, I lose a day on either end. That leaves five days for relaxing and playing! I prefer 9 days--the weekdays surrounded by the weekends! :D

I've done three solo trips to WDW, although part of one was to meet with other UOG members.

I learned a long time ago that if I wait for others to do things I want to do, I could wait forever and never have the opportunity to do them! :)

my Boyfriend and I did 1 week last Sept, we only had a week left of holiday days at work so it was a week or nothing, we decided to just get a 7 day Disney pass and nothing else and relax not rush round the parks.
It was one of the best WDW trips i have had. we fitted in all the main parks NP and had time to relax round the pool some mornings before going out.
I would defo do it again.

I used to think that I could never do Disney solo. I found out last year that not only could I do it, but I loved it :D. There is a lot to said for doing what you want when you want without having to worry that the person with you is going to want to do something else. I have 2 upcoming trips planned and both are without my family. I will be meeting up with friends, but I also will be doing some things on my own which I have found I really do enjoy, especially at Epcot where I tend to just wander around and take everything in.

Solo trips are awesome. I often do very short trips.

We are going for a week in 2 weeks time. I think the thing to remember is not to cram to much in. We have a 5 day Disney ticket and will have a day shopping. Better than nothing.
