Please can someone tell me which WDW (park and resort) restaurants are buffet style?

We've used the Ponderosa buffet, the KFC buffet and in the past (1992!) we went to a Chinese Buffet somewhere along I Drive.

Ponderosa and KFC are ok but hardly special, and the chinese which was really good is no longer there.

I'd like to try a Disney buffet for a more special meal if people can recommend a good one.

Would prefer Dinner or Lunch rather than breakfast

 Keith. I had no idea there was a KFC buffet. I also had no idea that KFC was so popular with the British.

There are tons of buffet and all you can eat meals at WDW.

Magic Kingdom:
Cinderella's Royal Table (breakfast) is all you can eat. They bring the meals pre-plated
Crystal Palace- all meals are buffet and have the Pooh characters

Epcot:
Biergarten is a buffet
Akershus is all you can eat. The Disney Princesses are in attendance

MGM:
Hollywood and Vine is a buffet

O'Hana (in the Polynesian) is a buffet. They bring the food to you. Dinner is very good. There is a character breakfast in the morning

Cape May Buffet (in the Beach Club) is a buffet. Dinner is a seafood clambake. Breakfast has characters.

Boma (Animal Kingdom Lodge) is a buffet. The dinner buffet is one of the best on property.

1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian) is a buffet character meal. Breakfast has Alice in Wonderland and friends. Dinner is Cinderella and company.

Chef Mickey's (Contemporary) is character buffet. It's a lot of fun

I'm sure I'm missing something........

Yep KFC as in Kentucky Fried Chicken - the real thing. They didnt have fries, they had potato wedges instead, but the chicken (on the bone) was just the same as we get here in the UK.

There was one we went to in Kissimmee I think. And we have been to KFC buffets in other parts of the US too.

I wish they did them here!!

I love KFC :)

It's popular but the restaurants aren't quite so ubiquitous as mcdonalds and they can be situated in less obvious places so the opportunity is less.

Also KFC in the UK is absolutely hopeless at stock control! I don't know if it's this way in the states, but over here you can go to a KFC, order something and get to the drive through window to be told "we're out of chicken" I'm not making it up, KFC out of chicken, and it happens frequently! I think maybe it's just the English mentality though... it's equally possible to walk into a mcdonalds, ask for a burger and chips and have them shout "1 burger 1 fries!" whilst adopting a look that suggests you've just ordered fresh dodo-eggs on a bed of caviar and white truffle sandwich or something

I know! unbelievable! Then they say "do you want something else?" Try finding something without chicken on it on the KFC menu! and hey if I'd wanted pizza, KFC probably wouldn't have been my first stop!

 well to confuse matters even more, they've started to consolidate the restaurants here. It is not uncommon to see a KFC/Pizza Hut or KFC/Taco Bell.

Don't all KFC's have a buffet from 3-6?

With all this talk about KFC and Coke... I am about to waver:wacko:

Let's go GM, I'm right behind you....

The kids and I splurge about once a month and head for the KFC buffet...I'm telling you, the boy can eat

As far as "running out" of chicken? Yep. Had that happen before as well. I just looked at the employee dumfounded, "You're out? It's *CHICKEN*. It's what you *do*!!!!" Geez. It's not like I asked for filet mignon. I asked for chicken, at. a. chicken. place.

Also dashed into Subway last week to grab lunch and were told they were "all out of bread." At this point, wouldn't it just be easier to shut the place down?

:sigh: I am feeling really gypped.....we don't have a KFC buffet. Or at least not that I have ever seen. This could explain why they are frequently out of chicken  They have the best coleslaw.

August 13th, 2005, 21:36
Mmmmm coleslaw.

It's a fair trade. You have Arby's with, is it, margaritas?

Johnie
August 13th, 2005, 21:43
oh yes, the grandest Arby's of them all is right down the street. Mexican food and margaritas a well as an ice cream shop inside. All with a Wilderness Lodge theming to it. I really need to go take some pictures :D

But, but, but, but....that's the best time to eat it!!

Johnie
August 13th, 2005, 22:01
no, no, the best time to eat ice cream is when it's cold out. At least for me. I really get ill in the summer. I have to stick with non-dairy based treats.

miraclemoments
August 13th, 2005, 22:08
That's ok. More for me in the summer :D You can have the Chinese food from Wegmans....

...desperately looking for a way to get back on topic...whatever that *was*

Johnie
August 13th, 2005, 22:12
Wegman's has a wonderful Chinese buffet....well you do pay per pound. But it is fabulous!

Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge has an all you can eat skillet.
Trails End at Fort Wilderness has a buffet too I beleive

Liberty Tree Tavern in MK isn't a "buffet" per se...but the dinner is a delicous all you care to eat traditional Thanksgiving fare meal...very good IMO.

Sorry for my English ignorance but what is an 'all you can eat skillet'?

To me a skillet is a type of frying pan and I'm trying to imagine how an all you can eat one would work

AlecK
August 13th, 2005, 23:29
It is a frying pan full of assorted foods brought to the table and you get a refill if required. :eat:

They bring out this huge skillet with all sorts of goodies. They serve it at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The goodies vary each meal. If you look at the menus on the site, they should have a description.

I don't think any of the KFC's around here are buffets. Haven't been in one since our 'Tucky Chicken girl was six or seven. She's about to turn 32!
