Our last trip we went to MGM I think we spent a couple of hours there and did a few things - we did go on the backlot tour that was pretty nice and the HISTK play area was fun for the kids. DH and older kids went on Star tours and Indiana Jones both they enjoyed.

This trip we would like to try out a bit more of the attractions!! We don't do roller coasters, but we would like to see the great movie ride, indiana jones, stunt car show and star wars and I really want to go to Walts one mans dream I have heard so many good things about that.

We will get to MGM around 3pm or 4pm we plan to see the parade at 4:30. We do need to be over at Cape May by 7:10 for a ADR. Great movie ride is the top of the "to do list" then the 2 live shows and star wars. Is this realistic?

What? Just a couple of hours at MGM? :nono: :Panic:

You have to hang around and see the street performers. Take in the ambience.

I also think it may be more crowded than usual when you go so your probably need to allow more time.

:iagree: with Johnie on the time issue...I think due to the free dining, it may be a bit more crowded than usual...so you might want to allow a bit more time...

Also, might I suggest...The Muppet Vision 3-D :D :D It's an excellent show :D

And I believe there is also a new Motor Stuntshow that the kids and your DH might enjoy...as well as Voyage of the Little Mermaid if you have little girls...it's a very well done show...

Will you be seeing Fantasmic while you're there? It's an EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT show.

One word of caution if you have little ones that are easily frightened...The Great Movie Ride contains a scene from the movie series "Alien" that might be quite intense for younger children....

Have fun!

What was I thinking just a few hours at MGM :naughty: my kids do not like to sit thru shows  I thought I might take my DD and DS age 3 to the little mermaid (do they still have the bear in the big blue house show or maybe it was jo jo circus show) and the big boys can go to star wars ride. I know we will not be seeing fantasmic as I am pretty sure I would have screaming kids. The great movie ride will have to be taking turns with DH and myself as aliens scares me  better not frighten the little ones. They did want to see the stunt cars show and I think indiana jones would be OK -- I have never seen it myself but DH does not think it will end up with running out with a hysterical child. I do plan to see the parade!!

crowds crowds did someone mention crowds!! We were trying to go at a less crowded time (end of septmeber first week of october) then the free dining offer and who can pass that up! What kind of crowds do you think we will encounter ... and the food and wine fest starts at epcot so much for a slow time of year!

There is just so much to do we need another week to take it all in!!

 well just add another week to the trip. Hmmm the principal might come hunt you down :afraid:

I don't think it's going to be jam packed but I do think it's going to be medium level crowds.

Hi Sharon!

Only you know your kids best, so you know what they will enjoy and what they won't...

I didn't intend to frighten you off from TGMR, only to give you the heads up...I'm 32 and I find it frightening :D

As far as The Little Mermaid...I *do* think your little ones will enjoy it...Ursula can be a bit daunting, but I don't recall my little ones ever being frightened. They do indeed still have Bear in the Big Blue House and I *think* JoJo makes an appearance...but I may need to be corrected on that...

Just remember, whatever you don't manage to fit in this trip only gives you a good excuse to go back!!

The alien bit is short. The Wizard of Oz scene is the best part of the ride :D

I would love to add a week but it's that nasty mean ole' principal bet he has never been to disney that is why he is so grumpy!

make the medium level crowds go away please ... we have gone in mid October the past two years so I guess the crowds will be simular?? I just hate all that pushing and shoving (hope I did not hurt anyone last year)

miraclemoments maybe since it is just one little scary bit we will take them and cover thier eyes!! I will have to find out about the bear in the big blue house show my kids do like the disney channel!

Yes, they still have Bear. Appearances by JoJo & Goliath, Rollie Pollie Ollie, Pooh & Friends. This is all one show, which, in your times guide will probably read "Playhouse Disney". Mermaid is right across the courtyard from there.
:secret: You might want to pop in to the Animation tour also...I hear that Chicken Little & Abby Mallard are meeting guests before their movie is released in November...

The "Lights, Motors, Action!" stunt show is only 3 shows per day. Definitely get a Fast Pass for it! And with the days getting shorter, the show will probably have to be earlier than it is now. It is not done at night.
The kids can meet the characters :tigbounce and get autographs at the Hat in the center of the park...but you have to get there earlier than 3:00. The characters leave to take their places in the parade. (Plus, people begin lining up along the parade route almost an hour before it starts.):mexwave:

You must go earlier and for more than just a couple of hours!!! Especially since the park will start closing earlier at this time of year. You'll miss a lot if you don't give yourself enough time. :(

I hope this helps you at least a bit.
Enjoy my favorite park!

ahh playhouse disney I think they will enjoy that show! They are quite odd as they do not like to sit for shows??? I am trying to squeeze in some more time at MGM, I know the stunt car show will be a hit with the boys anything with cars - speeding - crashing - and loud noise they love  my kids are not character chasers they like them from across the room ofcourse who knows what this trip will bring they are so different in what they like and do not want to do at different ages. thanks for the advice!!

When we went in June the last Lights,Motors,Action show time was something like 4 - 4.30pm (definitely get a f/p!), see if you can check out the website for show times, I think they have them on there.

We were there for the whole day but didn't manage to fit in I/Jones as well  - we gave the boys a choice and they went for the cars!

Great Movie Ride - fantastic ride, and as for the Alien bit, get the kids to close their eyes if you think they'll be scared. It is very obvious when that bit of the ride is, I am a total wimp, and I closed my eyes first time round, second time I did watch it, and it wasn't so bad. It could be for a younger child though.

Fantasmic - pleeeeeeeease try and see it if you can, I think it is undoubtably one of the best things at WDW!

Well MGM fans your enthusiasum has made me want to spend more time than 2 or 3 hours there :D I have managed to move a few things around, so ..... we can get to MGM around 2pm we want to see the parade at 4:30 and we need to leave to be over at Epcot for a 8pm seating at Japans Teppanyakis resturant -- I cancelled the cape may clambake we actually have another clambake our first day so I am looking forward to the Japan resturant and lucky for us they had a seating!! I think we will be done right about the time for Illuminations I think I read you could see it from the balcony from this resturant.

So this will give us a good 5 hours at MGM hopefully we can see the car stunt show and indiana jones but they all voted for the cars if we have to pick one. Is that a fast pass show and where exactly in the park is that???

thanks for all the advice!!

That is a Fast Pass show. If you're at KISK and head back towards Streets of America (also the exit for Backlot Tour), you'll see it straight in front of you. If you time it right, you may see the Power Rangers make an appearance...also, a new Atmosphere gig. Its called Mulch, Sweat and Shears. If you like rock 'n roll, you'll love these guys. But definitely get your F/P for LMA before anything else.:D

LOL. We saw Mulch, Sweat and Shears last year, quite by accident actually...and LOVED them...the kids really enjoyed them.
