Hi all,

I was just wondering, I have been having a good look through the menus on the main pages and noticed most if not all of the kids meals are very much chicken nuggets and chips type meals, now my DD aged 10 may be alittle unsual  but she does like a proper meal with potatoes or rice and veg etc  .
The question I have is would they do smaller portions for DD (although she eats a decent meal she doesn't have a very large appitite). Also if we go for buffets I'm assuming they have no problem with children eating from the whole buffet?
I do have to just say I'm not a cruel Mum :tantrum: who insists her child eats well it truly is my DD choice, I took her and my niece to Pontins when they were around 4 yrs and on the last night there was a buffet :eat: for everyone of chicken nuggets, chips, sausage rolls etc, both my girls were trying to sneek the salad garnish on their plates rather than anything else , I'm telling you the looks I got when they went to their table with a plate of salad was amazing :Peep: , I thought I'd be hung drawn and quartered for being so cruel :runaway: .

My DD is 14 now but she has always been an adventurous eater. She hated that the kid's meals all had nuggets, hamburgers, pizza, etc. Most portions here in the US are huge, so she and I would share a meal. We still do when we go to WDW.

You and the children can eat whatever you want at the buffets. That is probably the best choice for kids IMO cause they will be able to have some variety.

Thanks Johnie,
I know most kids love burgers and pizzas etc and DD will have them occasionally but I think for two weeks she will be desperate for a home cooked Sunday lunch, hopefully if she has a variety I won't have to cook one the first day back!!

Definitely can relate to your daughter! While I'm a very picky eater, I've always preferred "real" food!

However, do enjoy a hamburger, hotdog, chicken or fish strips occasionally--and some really good fries! :) And a nice, strong fountain root beer!

I know I always feel much better when we go to a restaraunt that offers a choice of sides for the kids. (Something besides fries.) Some places offer fruit, veggies or a salad. I don't remember any places in WDW that offered that. But I am sure that there are.
My dd is not one for fried things. ( She can't stand McDonalds! ) She often asks if she can subtitute veggies, or a fruit or salad. Some places do so without charging extra and a few say they can't do it at all. It doesn't hurt to ask.:)

I think it's great when kids make such healthy food choices on their own!

Many of the Disney restaurants will let you order off the adult menu in a kids portion. Ask your server if your child can have a half portion of what they prefer but have a back up option in case that particular item is not available as a half portion

My kids always chose rice or veggies as a side item when dining out. My son actually doesn't care of any type of potato and only eats french fries (chips) once and a while.

My kids sometimes order a soup and a salad for their meal and we share whatever we are having with them

Cinderella made an excellent post earlier today with a list of dining options where the kids menu is a bit more "adventerous"...you may want to have a look:

Wow thanks Miraclemoments,
that is just the sort of info I needed, I can make a couple more PS's now for the evening and can know that DD will be able to eat something.

Glad it helped!

Thats what I love about the buffets, anyone can have anything. Even though they ususally have a kids section, kids don't have to eat from it, and adutls can if they want to (I just love a bit of mac and cheese every now and then!)
