shopping!!!!

hey i was just planning some shopping trips into my itinerary and was wondering what sizes i should be looking for

i am a size 6 - 8 dress UK
32DD bust
and a 5 shoe can anybody please do those conversions for me cos i keep getting different answers

i went down in clothes sizes cos in films they talk abkout 1's 3's and 5's being slim

and in my local shops they (hennes etc) they say its either a 2,4,6 i think

Clothes go down a size and shoes go up 2 sizes.:shrug:

Remember that sizing is not universal in the U.S. Use Queenie's conversions as a starting point and try on everything! If you're purchasing for someone else, bring measurements and measure the garments before purchasing.

There are garment measurment standards, but most manufacturers and designers follow their own rules. Shoes are impossible--I wear a size 7.5 in one line, and a 9 in another! Medium width in one line, wide in another! :eek: And sometimes different sizes in the same line! :eek: :eek:

bare in mind that if your looking for trainers or shoes that can b worn by men or women you'll have a different shoe size for each sex. I haven't got a clue why, i'm a 5/6 was an 8 in womens (?) and a 4 in mens (i think, something totally different anyway)

as for clothes, i'm an 8 here in the UK, i got a T-shirt (loose fitting, football top really) thats a size 10/12 but my jeans were both size 1, could've gotten away with a 0 but they didnt have the right length in that size.

I believe bra sizes are the same as the UK.

Thats good. I struggle to buy decent ones that do not look like old ladies ones in the UK they seem to think everyone is tiny in that department so I am hoping that USA cater people like me.

I have bought things from them before, like you say they do great stuff but it is a bit pricey! What I tend to do is raid places like Debenhams and House Of Fraser when they have big sales on, they have a lot of the same things as Bravissimo. I got one that was something like £32 for about £7 :thumbs:

It then gets really confusing when you get small, medium and large......then extra small, extra extra small etc etc :)

In terms of number sizes, odd numbers (1,3,5 etc) are Juniors sizing. Evens (2,4,6 etc.) are woman's sizing. The cuts are different. I have no hips, so I usually buy my pants in juniors sizing because their a slimmer cut.
