Hi
I'm 30 (although look younger according to my friends) and I'm aware that its best to carry I.D. (especially if you want a glass of wine or a beer).
I always feel nervous carrying my passport with me but I now have a new UK photo drivers license and wondered if this would do instead of my passport? Do the US accept UK drivers licenses (I won't actually be driving on holiday though)?

They do, and you License will do just fine as it's photo ID.

Yeah i carried the card part of my drivers license. This was fine the whole time there but at the Halloween Horror Night at Universal they wouldn't accept it at first because they hadn't seen one like it before!
I told it them was just your ordinary UK drivers license and they accepted it in the end.

Driving License was fine for me!
Never needed passport - however i had a bit of a problem - my wifes birthday was the 3rd Feb and she just turned 21 however they could not work out that it was 3/2/ and said that she needed to wait another month! however in the end the accepted. LOL

I used my driving licence too, my passport stayed locked in the hotel room safe and didn't come out all holiday! It's best to take ID everywhere with you just in case, we got asked for it a few times when using credit cards.

Make sure you take it if they think you look under 30 they need id, I was asked at 34, much to DH annoyance :p

Excellent!! At least I won't have to worry about carrying my passport around with me all the time, I can lock it up in the room safe! Yippee!

I had a similar problem when we went on honeymoon in 2001. I was 21 at the time, and my birthday is 11th Jan. They read this as 1st Nov, which would have made me 20. Fortunately DH had his with him which is 24th May.....they could hardly argue there are 24 months in a year, and they apologised and let me off :)
We then made the mistake last year (when I was 24 and DH 25) of not taking ID to a restaurant one night.....we were asked for ID! I'll make sure we always have it in the future :)

I'm 57, but back a few years ago we went to the Virginia Rennaisance Fair, which sadly no longer exists. :( I went to buy a beer but they wouldn't sell me one because I didn't have and ID on me. Guess that way they were covered in that they asked everyone for an ID despite their age.

It does make me laugh though when someone is blatantly over 21!
