CapnJacks in DD is not a CS restaurant, correct? The Dining Plan brochure says it is TS but whencalling for some ADR I had a CM tell me for sure it was CS.

I believe I'd ring back and try with another CM, because although I've never eaten there, I'm nearly certain that no, it is NOT a counter service restaurant...especially considering they have entrees around $24 a piece...that would be quite hefty for counter service ;)
Now...what I *am* wondering is perhaps this is not a restaurant that you can ADR? I don't think you can get an ADR for the Rainforest in DD....perhaps CapnJacks is the same?

Now, upon further review...it *does* appear as though perhaps there is a walk-up bar/refreshment stand dockside at Cap 'n Jacks as well...could this be what the CM was referring to?

Cap'n Jacks, the Resaturant, is definitely NOT Counter Service. However, I also do not believe you can get an ADR for it.

Cap'n Jacks is a full service restaurant with mediocre food. You'll not be missing anything if you don't dine there.
At the end of the dock (nearer the train for the little ones) is the Margarita shack. It's a full bar, with outdoor seating.
You can make a reservation by going directly to Cap'n Jacks and putting in your name. You shouldn't have much of a problem.
Maybe things have changed and the food is better since I've last been there! :luck:

We had dinner there, and it was a full service restaurant at the time (August 2004)
We had the most delicious clam chowder..... yumm!!!!

A lot of people will say that Capn' Jack's is not very good, :( However we have eaten there at least once (usually twice) on each of our last three trips to WDW and throughly enjoyed every visit. :eat: I guess it's all just a matter of taste. I hope you at least give it a try.
PS. - It is a table service restaurant not counter service, and they do NOT accept advance dining reservations it is stricky first come first serve.

Musicmixer so glad that you've had good experiences there! It redeems them a bit in my eyes. And yes, you are so right. It is all a matter of personal likes and dislikes.
What I meant by reservation is that you can present yourself to the podium and give your name. You'll be called at the next available table. Not a call ahead and book type reservation at all.
Take care now and happy dining!
