I laughed when i read your title because a 4 WD car isn't ever needed down here unless you offroad ;)
How much luggage are you bring? 4 large suitcases are going to be a tight squeeze in the trunk of a full sized

Depends on how many bags/cases you had. We upgraded to a 7 seater minivan thing with 3 adults and a baby and needed every inch of space in that.

Where are you staying? If you are staying on site you may be able to use the new "Express" that will take you and your luggage to your hotel and pick up your hire car the next day. It seems a waste to book a larger car just to have to ferry luggage to and from the airport :)

Especially with today's gas prices, which I know are still cheap, compared to what you pay in the UK, I would stay away from the SUV and go with a 7 passenger van, like a Dodge Caravan or the like. The full size will indeed not provide a lot of room in the trunk (boot) for luggage for 4 adults and 1 child.

Thanks for the advice ,
I will certainly look into a larger passenger vehicle
