We are hoping to go to Vegas next year, but im concerned about my passport. The one I have at the moment runs out in 2007 - which is fine, but by the time we book and go to Vegas next year I will be married and my name will have changed. So here is my dilema - do I change the name on my passport to my married name and travel up to London to get a visa next year OR do I book Vegas next year in my maiden name and not change my passport?
Not really very sure what to do? :sigh: Am i allowed to keep my passport in my maiden name?

It depends what name you have booked your holiday under. If you booked it under your maiden name, you must have the passort in your maiden name.....same for if you booked it under yur married name.

I made the mistake of booking our honeymoon in my married name, had to get the registrar to sign forms and all sorts to change my name on the passport.....although, I must admit, it was worth the effort in the end come to think of it, I enjoyed using my new name :)

When I got married I kept my maiden name till after the honeymoon. There was enough stressing me out than to think about all the hassle with forms.

When are you getting married? If its soon you are probably going to want to change your passport before.

Hiya,
Why don't you change your passport now to prevent having to go for a visa at all (unless you have to for not travelling under the VWP).
You get up to 9 months (i think) added onto your passport for months you have left on your current passport.
This is worth it to prevent having to get a visa just cos of the change of the biometric rules.
Then change it again next year when you get married (either before or after).
I know it seems like a lot of money and messing around, but it's cheaper than having to apply for a visa everytime you want to go to USA in the next 10 years if you are able to travel under the VWP.
Hope this helps!
Leona
P.S. Good luck with the wedding!!

I cant change my passport now because all of the travel details for the wedding etc are in my maiden name!

I think i'll leave the passport in my maiden name for now, and when i book the holiday do all of that in my maiden name too. After next year i doubt very much we will be going to the USA for a holiday, so going to the embassy seems like a lot of trouble etc if ill only be using it for one year
