If we go horse riding at FW, is there anywhere to have a meal mid afternoon?
I've checked the menu list but it has only the HDH and MBB listed:confused:

I do apologise :sorry2:
So, is Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge the same place?
I am getting confused as they are both listed.

I need a dose of brains tonight....
The menu section above has Roaring Forks as a place at Wilderness Lodge.
Lesley says it is at FW:confused:

I want somewhere to eat after horse riding at FW....

There is the Trails End resturant they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. All three are buffets, at least they were 2 years ago :D there is also Crockerrs Tavern which I think you can get food there as well as a drink??

I dont want to be a little black raincloud but 2 years ago my DH went and got us take out from the buffet it was worse than school cafeteria lunch  I do think it has improved as I saw a review on it and they said it was quite good!! I suppose you could go do a quick look and see if it is something you would enjoy.

I thought the menu had stuff from the hoop dee doo on there.. chicken etc. I really do rather like the hoop dee doo chicken ;-) so I wouldn't mind that particular buffet at all!

Are you staying in one of the cabins? I've always wanted to stay there, but no one else ever does :sigh:

Yes and we love love love them!! With a large family they are a great value but our kids just have a blast there. We love the golf carts and that was voted the families favorite WDW "ride" :rotfl: last year. Our younger kids really think it is a "cabin" not a trailer with wood siding :D but disney has themed them well. This is about as close to camping as I want to get :rotfl: no tent for me thank you very much. We love love love having a full kitchen as we are grazers and move like a herd to food sources this makes it quite handy for a midnight snack. I like there is bedroom that the kids can go to sleep but we can still watch tv and chill out. That is a problem with a regular hotel room when it is lights out that is it. I hate sitting by a cracked opened bathroom door trying to get some light so I can read and relax when the kids have gone to sleep  with the cabins it is not a problem!

I actually suggested we get two rooms at one of the values for a change they all went bonkers saying they wanted the cabins ..... so the cabins it is!We love the driving the golf cart around just taking in the sights and we always see all kinds of wildlife and roaming peacocks are really neat. It is handy to drive the cart to the marina and hop on a boat right over to MK and then you can catch the monaril to EP the buses run pretty well going to MGM and AK. The kids love going to the store and buying a ice cream. It is just very relaxing you could probably spend a week just in FW and not even visit a park!

My only "complaint" really is the boring pool wish they would redo those with some fun camping type theme.

If you can talk the family into it or maybe split your trip and stay a few nights I think they would like it our kids do and they range from 3 to 20!! This year 4 out of the 5 kids are going DD 20 is a sophmore in college and just can not take the 8 days off school :( with DS in his senior year of hight school this may be his last year too for a October vacation :( I guess we will have to start going when school is out! Next trip after this one (yes I am double planning) is in december 2007 and DD college breaks really early in the month so I think it will work out for a nice holiday trip!!

I'm sorry what was the question you posted .... I somehow got off on a wild goose chase once again  wan't this thread about dining .....

Hi just got back from the FW campground and can reccomend the trails end .
For lunch there is a Buffet for approx $10.99 which includes a soup ( clam Chowder when we were there ) a delicious chilli , fried chicken , ribs , a stew of some kind etc and unlimited soft drinks or coffee etc ,
The Dinner menu is slightly more expensive but there is even more choice ,
You eat off tin plates and bowls and drink out of jam jars .
We found for value it was the best value.
Barry

ps if you go horse riding remember not to wear shorts ,
