My mum and my sister are quite worried about filling their form out - i have told them that they arent that difficult and that the cabin crew will help them - but they'd still like a look!
I thought i found it in announcements before - it said something about a visa form to practise on?

If you make a mistake just ask for another one. There would be nothing worse than being made to go to the back of the queue

Have you ever been involved in terrorist activity or genocide?! Not exactly a tricky one to answer.
I wonder if anyone, anywhere ever has answered yes to that one! I'd like to think so.

dont worry about the form they are a doddle to fill in, they have plenty on the plane..... I was quite worried about the waiver form, but like everything else you worry about it turns out to be just fine :-)

We filled ours in before we left home and just kept them with our passports so they were ready for when they were asked for. We got ours from sending an email to Virgin and asking for them.

Oooo get you, only joking Diane thats a good idea, they can be a bit of a chore on the plane (especially when you have to fill 4 in) and especially when you have only had like 4 hours sleep before the flight!
Melfuzz
August 20th, 2005, 18:22
At what point do they give them to you on the flight? I seem to remember its near the end but I hate flying so much I blank most of the flight out.

Little tip for you, try it on in the shop if you can (I couldn't due to work, my mun picked it up for me). When I did try it on, it was 12 inches too short. It would appear that the lady altering it for me had altered it, forgotten she'd done it, then altered it again :) This was a week before my wedding!

:Panic: Oh my gosh Vikki! I would have been quite frantic if that were me - and so close to your wedding! Was it altered ok?

Well, the problem was, the woman altering it had gone on holiday. It was a skirt-corset thing so the top was ok, it was just the skirt which was a problem.
We called them and the owner sorted it out, I have no idea what she had to do, and to be honest, I don't want to - but it was all ok in the end, as you can see

They say these things come in threes, we had the dress incident, my sister was taken into hospital ten days before the wedding and got out the day before, and the whole thing could have been cancelled due to foot and mouth disease (we were married at a hall which had a farm).
Ah well, it all worked out in the end :)
Anyway, back to the subject................

That sounds like a very good idea to me - then you don't have to worry at the airport!
If you don't mind me asking, who did you email to get the blank forms? Was it virgin holidays or virgin atlantic? Did they also give you the customs forms to fill in?
Thanks very much  - and sorry for butting in :sorry:

That's ok - you're not butting in!
I should imagine either Holidays or Atlantic would be able to help you? I would probably say Atlantic might be a better option though?! I could be completely wrong mind!

I've just emailed Virgin Atlantic, so I'll wait and see what they say.
Now It's got me thinking about filling in the visa waiver forms - I know some people are a bit worried about filling in the forms, so does anyone think it would be a good idea to start a thread on the forum that sets out all the standard answers that people from the UK would use on the form?
I'm thinking of the questions like country of citizenship, country where you live, address while in the US, city where you boarded, and any other tips for filling them in.
It might relieve a bit of the worry for people who've never filled one in before, or even people who have filled them in before, but aren't very confident completing them (like myself!)
Or on the other hand, do people think they're self explanatory, so instructions aren't needed?
What does everyone think?

Oops - I didn't see that when I did a search before - I'll try again :D
One thing I did notice when I was looking at the practice ones - why are all the spaces one character too small  :D ? The city where you boarded - for me it's Manchester - 10 letters, but there's only 9 on the form. Address where you're staying - "Disney Caribbean Beach" - 22 letters, only 21 on the form. Do they do it just to annoy people ??? :D

I'm joking about it, but I can't actually remember what I put on the form the last time we went   - I presume it's just the airport code for the city of departure - so for Manchester you'd put MAN??
And I'll just have to leave a space out of the address, so I'll put Disney Caribbeanbeach.

We squeezed in " Manchester " onto ours.

I managed, the imigration guy did'nt bat an eye lid!
But I recall now, I did put the letters " ER " in the final box so it all fitted in.
Then the guy just lined all our cards up and went, stamp, stamp, stamp, stamp, stamp, stamp, stamp, stamp, stamp. :-)

Just thought I'd post an update for anyone else who's thinking of asking for some forms - I just got this reply:
Dear Andrew,
Thank you for your email, I apologise for the delayed response.
Due to the number of requests that we are currently receiving for visa waiver forms, we regret that we can no longer send these out to passengers. These forms are available at the check in desks and on board the aircraft where a member of our crew will be happy to help you if you have any problems.
Once again, we apologise for this but hope that you understand our position.
Kind regards,
Flying Club Customer Services
So I didn't have any luck  I'm afraid.
But we don't live too far from Manchester airport, so I emailed them back, and asked if we could call in to the check-in desk and pick some forms up, and she said that would be OK, so we might do that if we get the time. So that might be an option if you live close to the airport.

I got the same reply this morning Andrew.....after you jogged my memory I sent them an email too. Oh well.....it did say that you can pick them up at the airport when you arrive so it will give us something to do while we wait. Plus, it means we don't have to fill them in on the plane.

No, we did go to the Virgin check-in, and we went when we knew they'd be open to check in the flight this morning. We did take the email I got from virgin with us, in case there was any problems, but it was all fine.
If you're thinking of going to collect some forms, I can forward the email onto you, if you'd like.
