View Full Version : Garden Grill or the Galley at the Yacht Club
Take Me to Disn

My itinerary is getting quite full (trying to squeeze in all those free meals). I already have reservations at the Garden Grill in Epcot for lunch, but now I'm thinking of changing it to the Galley at the Yacht Club. Please give me your opinions. (It is my 13 y/o DD and myself.) Thanks!

The Yacht Club Galley is an absolute gem. I came upon it by accident really. I knew nothing about it but we all wandered in for lunch. What a lunch it was. I had beef and barley broth and a shrimp filled croissant (massive), while my dd had fish and chips - it was so good! DS had the crab cakes - also very nice and the whole lot came to $33.
It is the first place we will be going back to when we visit next year, I dont know anything about The Garden Grill but the Yacht Club Galley is wonderful.

On one of my more recent stays at the BC, when I checked in, my villa was not ready. They gave me a dinner at the Yacht Club Galley to compensate me for my "troubles."
Quite honestly, it was the single worst experience I have ever had on WDW property. The service was terrible. A server (not mine thank heaven) actually bent over at the waist and shouted at her table from several feet away. It was unbelievable. Average wait time for food was two and a half hours. When the food arrived it was cold. Not tepid. Cold.
Needless to say, the only reason I stayed was because I was not paying for it. I did tell them at the desk that the YCG must have been having a very bad night.
Although I am pretty sure that given the terrible evening, there must have been something significant going wrong at that restaurant, I'll not be quick to return there, even for free.
I'd stick with the Garden Grill.

Yeah, it was Keith. Had I been paying for it, I would have been one of the folks leaving in a huff.
The family that the server shrieked at? The manager came over and ended up having all their meals reordered fresh, packaged to go and sent to their rooms. They were given free desserts too. But let me tell you, that family was NOT impressed, and did not seem very pleased with the manager's compensation (although to be fair, what more could the manager really have done)?
The table next to me (four adults) all got the wrong meal. Every one of them. Not as in, oops I got your's, but as in, these meals were not ordered by anyone at this table.
Seriously way not good. :(

Wow Tink, that's horrible! What an awful experience!!!
We've stay at the Yacht Club a couple of times, and have had pretty good luck at that restaurant. My favorite was the lobster benedict (think it was lobster, might have been crab) and it was pretty good. It was huge though, and I felt guilty about leaving it.
My only concern for you would be travel time - is it going to be convenient enough for you to get to, or would it be easier to just pop over to the Garden Grill?

We've eaten breakfast there several times, and we had Thanksgiving dinner there last year. My only complaint was that there was no pumpkin pie! The rest of the food was delicious, and the service was great!
We've never done Garden Grill. I'm wondering if this is a place my DGSs would enjoy when we take them next year...

The Garden Grille used to be one of our favorites but it has changed. It was a family served type meal with several meats ect. The bread was so good. The food was made from the things grown in The Land. Now, it has changed according to all that I have read about it lately. Each person orders seperately and the food is horrible.:sorry: Rumor has it that a new chef is being hired and it will be put back to something like it was before. We were so disappointed to read about this as we had always included it in our ressie's!!
