Hello,
I have been wondering, I may possibly need to exchange upto 400 dollars a day in travellers cheques. Can I do this at all star movies?
I have quite a few 100 dollar cheques. Have I shot myself in the foot?
We are staying at all star movies, and I hope to exchange this amount each morning, before we head for the parks. We don't have a car so cannot get to any banks really.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks alot.
david.

You can pay for stuff with your tcs and they will give you change :). You may find difficulty changing the larger cheques on small items, save these for larger purchases or the parks :)

Yep, you just use them like cash. Take the $400 with you and just sign the $100 at a till when you pay. the cashier will give you change in cash. Cash them one at a time when needed so they are insured. It's not like in Europe where you need to find a bank or bureau de change.

Although resorts will cash TC's for you, i doubt they would change such a high amount. Just to echo whats been said though, theres no need to cash your TC's every day as they will be accepted wherever you go and any change will be given in cash. Ive never had any problems using the higher denomination cheques ($100) although its best to save these for bigger purchases.

david, we took TC' last year for the first time and had no problems whatsoever, we only had to show id at one store, the world of denim, as kiltie said there is no need to change the cheques every day, doing that you might as well have taken all cash :) just change it as and when you need to :D also you wont need to change them at any banks anyway, by doing that ive been told a lot of banks charge you anyway

Thanks for all your replys, I feel some what better now.
I guess I was a lil worried about all these 100 dollar cheques that I have purchased.
I think i'll get the rest of my currency in twentys and fiftys.
Thanks again.
Anyone know if I can change any amount of cheques at all star movies guest services if needed?

Change up to $100 per day in resort.
You are better getting $50s if you want change :)

We didn't change a single Travellers Cheque the whole time we were there, no need to, didn't find anywhere that didn't accept them.

Hello! When we were at the ASMo in May this year, we were allowed to exchange $200 dollars per day, by simply stating your room number. When we needed more we just payed for something small in the Gift Shop, like a pack of sweets and they will give you change in $'s!!
You'll have a great time at the ASMo - we love it there and have been 3 times in the last 17 months!

Someone tell me then, why do you need to change them because I didn't go anywhere that didn't accept them!

I tend to change the travellers cheques on a daily basis at reception, to save the hassle of taking my passport around the parks/shops with me to show as ID when cashing them.
The first time I went I was constantly asked for Photo ID when cashing them! I did not feel comfortable carrying around my passport all day, hence the cashing of them at reception in the hotel! The hotel have never asked for ID when cashing them. The pasport then stays safely in the safe!

Sounds like a tale you'd tell your grandchildren "...in my day the whole family had to share one turkey leg for dinner..." :rotfl:

Do you have a photo driving licence? Or can you take a photocopy of your passport? Or even a photo ID from work?
I've been to the US 16 times now (including work trips) and never changed travellers cheques ever. Just use them as cash - ie as if they were £50 notes - and then get change in smaller denominations of dollars. We have been asked for id a couple of times but the above items have been accepted with no problems.
