I have probably a stupid question. To order room service they add on a $3.00 charge, and an 18% service charge. Is the 18% the tip, or do you add an additional tip to who ever delivers the food?

Unfortunately, another tip for whoever brings the food.

is it?
oh dear, a few disappointed people who've brought me room service then
I really thought all the extras were effectively the tip :/

Well, I suppose they could be, but I have always tipped whoever actually, physically bought the food. I don't know that the 18% is going to that person, but that's just me.:)

I was never sure so always tipped in case. Should it still be 15-20% in the USA though or a few dollars just for carrying the tray?

I just gave a couple of dollars as it already had the 18% added. They seemed happy...........well, they didn't hit me anyway.

If they are adding on $3.00 plus 18% then I am going to assume that the 18% is the tip. Don't think I would add any more. Room service is expensive enough as it is.

I agree, perhaps we should find out what the tipping standards are and start a post? What do the mods think?

We always give the deliverer a few dollars.
