I've never heard of Earls Sandwich Shop before. Where in Downtown Disney is it located? Is it counter service or table service. What's their menu like? I might try to find it when we're there.

We go there often. My favorite is the Florentine, chicken breast with creamed spinach, mushrooms and parmesan cheese:eat: .

Here is a report I wrote in a thread back in March 4th, 2004:

Yesterday we visited the new EoS at DTD. We convinced the boss to go with us and pay for lunch. :D

It's located directly across from "Once Upon a Toy" and the Pin Shop. There's a large porch area in the front with plenty of tables and more sitting inside the restaurant. The line was pretty long when we arrived (about 25 people) but moved very fast, we were eating in less than 15 minutes.

The menu has lots of choices. You can see the menu posted on this thread:

Earl of Sandwich - Menu (http://www.wdisneyw.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22956)

Every sandwich is $4.95, which is not bad considering it is located within WDW. They also have pre-made cold sandwiches, salads, potato chips, giant cookies, brownies and a few more things.

The bread was interesting, it was perfectly rectangular, in the shape of an individual loaf of bread, and I think baked on a cast iron loaf pan. It had the look of rustic/old world bread, very buttery with lots of flavor. All the meats are deli style and sliced thin. Also, all sandwiches are toasted, which really brings out the flavor.

I had the "Florentine", chicken breast with creamed spinach, sauteed mushrooms and parmesan cheese. It was very good. The boss had the "Hawaiian BBQ" with BBQ pork and pineapple slices. The slices of pineapple were also thin, which he said were just perfect. Other people had the "Beef n' Blue", "The Frenchie" and "The Original". Everybody was happy with their choices.

Overall I think it is a great addition to DTD. It is a nice quick stop, an alternative if you don't want to wait 1-1/2 hours to go to Rainforest Cafe or if you don't want pizza from Wolfgang Puck's Express.

We went there twice in one trip. H2B is really picky about sandwiches and he really likes them there. I love their Earl Grey Lemonade.

We make sure to eat at Earl of Sandwich everytime we go to DTD (since it opened). The whole family can find something that they like, and if you don't want something on it that usually comes on it, like mayo, just tell them and they'll leave it off.

We just saw the Earl of Sandwich highlighted on the Food Channel! They were doing a "Secret Lives of Sandwiches", or something like that, and the showed the grand opening and ribbon cutting there!
