:welcome: to the boards Lou :)

I'm not sure about how lucky you'd be trying to get an ADS on the day for certain places... however if I were you, I'd call up now and book the seatings you'd like, that way you know you can eat at the places you want, rather than being disappointed on the day :)

If you are staying on-site, you can call from your room. However, as mentioned by TimonandPumba, if you know when and where you want to dine, calling ahead helps to insure that you will get the seating you want.

Because of the free dining offer ADR's are going quick at more popular places. I'd make them before you leave. Remember you can always cancel or change them

Just to add, my experience is that sci-fi diner is very popular!

In December we managed to snag a table by calling on the day, in March we failed for our whole trip! We even went to see if they had cancellations and there was a huge queue outside one day, the next day we got to the podium to be told they werent accepting walkups and anyone who didn't have an ADR was turned away.

Im not really a fan of arranging where to eat before the day itself.. I never really know what I'll feel like :) but nowadays at Disney, if you KNOW you want to eat somewhere, I think it's advisable to book it well in advance of getting there.

Remember, loads of people are now on a dining plan where they've prepaid all their dining and want to get the most out of it.. so they'll be booking in advance making it harder for others to get in.

I agree with Keith about the Sci-Fi - it is usually very busy.
If there are places that you really want to eat at it would be best to book ahead. As JM says, you can always cancel if you change your mind.

As for calling up.... take a look at this link for more info: http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/pseat.html - it has the number and time to call. It's nice and easy to do

I have to agree sci-fi diner is a busy place, but we were lucky during our wedding trip in March to walk in a get a table within 15mins - I think we were lucky! It may have been those bride and groom ears!!!
