Does anyone know if you can purchase LDW insurance when you arrive in Florida or pre-book it directly with Dollar? How much does it cost?

I'm asking because it costs over £250 to buy the LDW on top of the flydrive price with Airtours, which seems daft because the cost of hiring a car with LDW directly from Dollar is only £248!!!

it cost me a whooping £400 for two weeks insurance with dollar when I forgot to add the insurance here.
have you read the other thread that says it may be cheaper to rent a car elsewhere?

Hi Paul

We upgraded our insurance after double checking the booking paperwork and noticing we only had part of what we needed. Glad we did after reading what you had to pay.

I think we are ok now and only have to pay to upgrade if required (DH is 6ft 6")
and for a tank of petrol unless this is optional. We usually collect and return with a full tank.

Hello Carla If you have a good holiday insurance ie at least 3million pound accident cover I dont see the point in paying £250/£300 extra for the same thing on your hols insurance If you get LWD in US it will cost more then prebooking it. Tony

A good holiday policy will cover you instead of taking personal injury insurance but is not a substitute for CDW/LDW or UMP etc. If you cannot show you have CDW when you collect the car you will have to leave a credit card imprint or a substantial cash deposit and would be liable for any damage to the car.
