hi everyone

got a question about car hire, we have got a car with TCD(i know the risk's but we had already booked when i read the post's ) and i was just looking on the Dollar site about upgrading to a full size ( TCD want £40 ) when i noticed that the rental agreement says that the person who pays must be the licence holder. As i am lead name on the tickets not my partner who is the driver ( i don't hold a driving licence) will we have trouble when picking up the car??????? HELP PLEASE......

I'd contact TCD about this one, or Dollar direct

I would also check with Dollar Jacqui. However, I usually pay for our holiday/car hire etc and they all have my signature on the documents......but it is DH who actually goes over to the desk to pick up the car.....I don't even drive it.

It could be that the person who pays for the car must be the licensed driver, but do double check. I'd not recommend paying for an upgrade. Honestly. You may get one without paying, and you really won't need it. Of course, I'm picturing just two of you and some luggage! If there are more of you, then you may need something a bit bigger than an economy sized car.

I second that a Dollar rep went crazy trying to get me to upgrade but i refused we were upgraded due to a lack of available cars in our catagory. If you pay through the tour operator it shouldnt make any difference who pays. Besides the drivers credit card is swiped at the rental counter anyway.
