I am thinking of buying the children either a Nintendo DS or Gameboy Advance SP for Christmas with the intention of them taking it to Florida with them next May. A friend has just mentioned to me that on a recent flight to Majorca there was a sign on a piece of paper in the back of the seat pockets that said 'No Gameboys or similar gaming machines'.
Can the children use either of the above on flights with Virgin from Gatwick to Orlando? It will make such a difference to a long flight with a 5 and 8 year old if we can......

You can't use the wireless play on the DS while flying though. As it uses wi fi.

Sadly now most of them don't seem to anymore.. certainly the ones from manchester don't have gameboy on now that they have the newer 747-400s. It rather depends what plane you get.

When we have flown from Gatwick we have never had them on, when i questioned this i believe that its normally on the fleet that fly from Heathrow!

I must just be unlucky as they have been on every flight taken with Virgin including April thir year.

There are seven Virgin 747-400 planes which share the MAN/LGW - MCO route. Of these only 2 are fitted with games so it's just pot luck on the day.

Hi Lindsey
Both of my children took their GBAs with them on the flight (Virgin Atlantic LGW to MCO) and used them a lot! They are also great for afternoon rests back at the hotel (if you take them) and in long queues for rides! And the new games are cheap to buy in the US! Just about every photo we have of DS from this last trip has his GBA in it too!!
