Not sure where to post this so please move it if I am wrong.
I would like to ride all the rides but I am 6 foot 2 inches tall and 350LB. I am very wide at the shoulders and have some what of a GUT on me.
My kids what to ride all the rides with me and I was looking over all the photos on this site and seats on most of the rides do not look that big??????
Can anyone tell me if this is a problem or not? Is there some rides I will not be able to fit in?

Most of the seats are pretty big. The only ones that I would be concerned about would be Space Mountain (not the seat part but it is pretty low and there isn't much leg room), Astro- Orbiter (it can be a bit of a tight squeeze) but I think that's about it. How old are your kids? If you have another adult riding a ride with you, it might be tight but riding with a kid should be ok.

Many rides like Buzz lightyear/haunted mansion are bench style seats. Some of the coasters like duelling dragons at IOA have a test seat at the entrance and you can try before you queue. If you can get in the seat and fasten the safety belts, you're on! I'm sure you'll be fine, very few rides are size restricted.

The Stitch attraction may be difficult, as well. Those restraints are miserably uncomfortable--and completely unnecessary IMHO. Ask a CM if there are any options available for you that don't use them. If not, you aren't missing much. It's a poorly designed attraction IMO. Please note, not a humble one, this time!

I would be so embarrassed if I tried the test seat and could not get in or out :afraid:

Too true. Universal, IOA, Busch Gardens and the other theme parks have the mammoth steel coasters where the seats keep getting smaller and smaller. I doubt you'll have any problems at Disney.

Oh well personally I didn't rate Universal that much in any case and I am not a lover of big roller coasters :)

I love them and would be well upset if i couldnt ride them
had a worry that i wouldnt be able to ride when i was diagnosed with a slight heart problem earlier in the year but the doc said i should be ok to ride them so now just worried about my size

A size 16 has nothing to worry about whatsoever, you'll be fine on every ride!
The good thing about the test seats is that even if you don't want to test it, you can pretty much tell straight away if you'll fit or not. Much better than being turned away at the front of the queue publically. :)

Hi
I'm sure when we were there last year there were a couple of rollercoasters that had one or two bigger seats so I'm sure you'll manage no probs !

Hi Gunthor :overhere:
Please don't let your weight ruin your holiday, I did this the first time we went. My husband and I are around 280lbs, we are big yes but so are alot of americans so it didn't bother us. The only place in Disney that we were advised to ask for larger space was on The Rock and Roller Coaster, appartently even (i think) are slightly bigger than odd, it may be the other way round, worth asking.
Unfortunately its another story with Island of Adventure, I couldn't get on any of the rollercoasters like the hulk, dueling dragons etc, the sides just werent wide enough for my hips :D, Hubby managed to get on it though so there is some hope. The seats at the entrance of the rides are a godsend, i must admit its a little embarassing trying them out and reasling you can't actually fit in them but like you say its better to do it there than at the front of the queue with everyone staring.
Universal is better because most of the rides are Films and have bench seats etc, I could even squeeze onto the Men In Black ride (love this one!!).
I personally didn't have a problem with any of the restraints on the stitch ride, its a great ride (well i thought so).
Anyway I hope this has helped and put your mind at rest a little, any help I can give just let me know.

The only place at Disney wear I ever saw anyone have problems was on Test Track. The guy that got the seat next to Adrian was having problems getting the seat belt on. In the end Adrian had to physically lift the guy's stomach up  and pull the belt to its full extension and just managed to get the guy clipped in.

They should not have let him on for his own safety. He must have been extremely uncomfortable.

Absolutely, I remember being at Alton Towers one year and seeing several people being turned away from Air after the not being able to get the restraints down far enough. I felt really sorry for them as they'd waited in line for so long only to have loads of people watching them have some employees bouncing around trying to get the restraints to click into place and them to be turned away...

I am a big gal and only a couple rides at Disney gave me problems. Dinosaur and Star Tours hurt my hips (they are both bouncy) and the Tricerious Top Spin was a tight squeeze. I wish I had just asked to sit alone on that one. Also I had to sit on the edge of the theater seats.
I hope I fit into the roller coaster seats at IOA or else I'll be sitting around while H2B rides. I am glad to know there are test seats though. I am thinking if I can fit in a coach class seat in a small airplane I'll hopefully fit into the coaster seats.
I just got new walking shoes so maybe if I walk the dog 4x a week I'll drop a size by Halloween.
Can yall tell I'm thinking out loud on this one?
BTW - my new shoes are New Balance 790 in the walking line. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever put on my foot and they are PINK!

Hey, DP, if you fit in an economy seat on Southwest, you'll definitely fit on most rides at WDW. No personal experience at US/IOA. I'm plus size, but fit comfortably into the SW seats--which surprises me a bit!
I just don't like the restraints on the Stitch ride--there is a lot of pressure on the shoulders, which also applies pressure to the spine, etc. I've discovered aches and pains in places I never even considered a few years ago!

The only problem i had with the roller coaster seats at Universal and Island of Adventure are that they are bucket types, they come up at the sides and this is why I couldn't get my hips in. The restraints came down fine, but because of the side bits I just couldn't squeeze, definatley use the test seats first :)

I thought it was a little cruel to have the test seats in the open outside the rides. If you dont fit everyone can see.

I think most people can judge whether they think they will fit or not so can save the embarrasment, but im with Jenna, I certainly wouldn't want to wait for 30 mins to an hour only to find that at the front of the queue in front all the eyes of the CMs and all those queing that i couldn't get on, so would use the seats if i thought i had a chance of squeezing in :D

I am not one who cares what other people think. I know I will use the seat if I get stuck I would like to find out before I get to the ride.
And if they see me get stuck and want to laugh or what ever it is fine with me I will never see them again so who cares. I am going to have fun and no one is going to stop me.

PM me if you want to try to meet. I'm making plans, but not promises at this point--life tends to be too uncertain at times! Breeze always laughs at my cautious approach to holidays--I don't start bouncing until my flight lands at my destination airport!
I'm going to try to get a ticket for MVMCP on December 18th. Beyond that, the only thing I've planned is Christmas eve at MK. Park hours were posted last night, so I'll begin working on my itinerary this weekend.
If you haven't visited WDW during the holidays before, it's absolutely gorgeous decked out in all of its finery! I've visited in early and mid-December before, but this will be my first Christmas there! :)

Gunthor, Back To The Future at US is another one with just the one lap bar that comes over the whole row. I am quite petite so I as good as had nothing keeping me in my seat and I got thrown about quite a bit! It's quite a jerky ride and I'm surprised they don't have individual restraints. I still really enjoy it but I'd prefer it if I knew I was going to stay in my seat and not end up keep sliding into a stranger's lap :D

Hi Gunthor,
Being a TALL and BIG GIRL myself, I find this a strange place to post about being a BIG GUY! Believe me, being big is in no way a disability!
You will have no worries at all with the rides. I've been on most of them myself, and so far incurred no problems!
I agree, however, with the space mountain one. I've seen how low this one is, but I've never been on it. I would probably find it hard to get into or out of being so low! But until you try, you don't know!
Have a wonderfull holiday!

Here is a quick trip report.
I am 6’3 350lb
I had no problems with all the rides I got on.
Here are some notes:
Houted Mansion I was sitting to one side with 3 of us in the car. My head was out side of the car and I had to sit in a weird position by the end of the rid my back sore. Sit in the middle if you ride.
Space mountain ride in the 2nd seat of the car. The first seat is the shorter one. If I would of ridden in the 2nd it would not have been so bad.
On Test track and Soarin they use a seat belt. I found it hard to buckle. I have my 10year old help me each time. I had her sit on the side I had to buckle and had her plug it in for me.
ALL in ALL it was a great experience. The extra magic hour made the trip for us. The Magic Kingdom was a ghost town and we had a blast.
