However I heard that the park is very small and does not have many attractions.
There is no pirates of carribean, haunted mansion or small world.
I am originally from HK and likely will visit it sometimes but it does not sound too appealing to me.
Also there have been unfortunately many negative news about HK disneyland if you read the reports from the Hong Kong press.

Hi hugpooh and welcome to the site! You used to live in Hong Kong? Wow!
Negative in what way? Are the local folks not happy about the park, or is it something else? I've often wondered how others view Disney when the parks come to new places.

Generally speaking, lots of people are not very happy about the park.
It is very small compared to all the other disneyland parks.
As I mentioned earlier, quite a few of the popular rides are not there-
no small world, haunted mansion, pirates of carribean or peter pan. Aren't these all times favorites?
I just got its park map and it does look tiny to me.
It is divided into only four major parts: main street, fantasyland, adventureland and tomorrowland.
I heard the park allowed 30,000 people in one day and the park was extremely extremely crowded. People waited at least 2 hours to get food.
Three hours for many rides. Fast passes ran out very very early.
They said they wanted to test the "maximum limit" of number of people they could handle. That must have not been a very fun day for many.:(
CMs are not well trained at all according to many people. Many negative comments about CMs not being very friendly or professional. Lots of CMs look confused and not sure what they are doing. People said they are not getting the sense that some CMs care about what is going on. Hope this will improve as time goes by.
Hope it will improve. I still support HK disneyland since I am originally from there:)

DLP had a bit of a rugged beginning, if I remember correctly. The CMs at the Hong Kong park are having to learn an entirely new culture--Disney! That's difficult enough for a small percentage of the staff, but when you consider nearly every CM is new, they have a bit of a learning curve!
Hope they're able to find their groove quickly! :)

I agree. I hope things will get more smooth soon.
It is a very different culture.

Hong Kong Disneyland??! No thanks!
That park only has 16 rides  , and no, they don't even have Pirates, Small World or Haunted Mansion! BUT...that's NOT the worst part.
 The Worst Part (be prepared, cause you might be shocked to read this):
Guests (and I mean people from mainland China) have been spotted lying around in the park half naked....parents letting their children doing their business under trees or bushes....guests smoking EVERYWHERE in the park...just to name a few. :sigh:
These are problems that HK disneyland is trying to resolve....and until it's solved and park expanded....I am saying 'NO' to HK Disneyland!!!! :( :(

Don't get me wrong, I do believe in Disney magic....but when culture clashes, it's another matter. Cutting in lines, Urinate by the trees or in bushes are norm in mainland China....it's extremely tough to change that.

Yeah, the culture thing is a challenge. I suppose it will be about as difficult (maybe a bit more) than Eurodisney.
