Hi just another question regarding asmov. My hubby is coming with us this time:rotfl: and he is a smoker. I know that there are smoking areas within the parks does this apply to the asmov? We are having a nonsmoking rooms as the rest of us are nonsmokers so he was out voted:whistle: will he be allowed to smoke outside the room? or away from the room? I did notice that outside the main building where the food court is that there is ashtrays etc - is this the only place:confused:

We just got back from Pop Century. DH smoked outside. No one said anything to him so I assume that was ok. He usually smokes out on the balcony if we're somewhere that has one (except you can't do that at AKL).

Got to say that was one of the things that really bugged me about pop :( coming back and having to walk back to the room through all the smelly smoke but I know that wasn't the question.
As Johnie says, everyone seemed to be doing it and it looked to me like it was allowed.

I will just say in my DH's defense is that he always walked out to the parking lot since we were so close. He's pretty good about not smoking around others.
I hate having to walk through smoke. I have to walk through the cluster of smoking nurses to get into my work building every day

yeah and fair play, thats a lot better than just smoking in the non-smoking room or something

:/ The number of buildings over here which have tons of employees smoking around the front door so visitors have to walk in through a midst of smokers and smoke to get into the company.

That happens pretty frequently here too. I hate that :(

thanks for that - I will have to send my dh off for a walk to the parking lot if he wants one. As a non smoker i did find it nice in the parks not having to smoke other peoples smoke!

My MIL made me so mad when we were there...we had first floor rooms in the Toy Story section, and she sat on the bench outside of our room and smoked. The smoke didn't bother us because the room was shut, but since there wasn't an ashtray, she decided that the ground was where her butts belonged. Finally, DH said something to her and she removed them...

WDW is one of the few places I`ve been when I feel really guilty if I even drop any ash on the floor.
I always observe the no smoking policy in the parks, and anywhere else for that matter, and it infuriates me when I see others flouting the rule.
It`s got to the stage that I hang on to my cigarette butt until it burns itself out before finding a trash bin.
One of our friends who came out with us in July even had a small tin with a screw on lid that she carried around with her. She had used this for years as a combined ash tray and small trash can....it came in very handy at times.

Johnie,
The childrens hospital here has gone smoke free on all hospital grounds! I see staff walking two blocks down to go off the hospital property to smoke! The hospital did have a small area off the parking lot that had a tent type thing set up for those who smoke but so many patients complained about it, they went smoke free they did offer all employees free help in quiting. I guess parents have to walk the two blocks to smoke also. Our city hospital allows smokers to be right off the entrance and it is soooo smokey - ever try carrying a child who can not breath during an asthma attack on the way to the ER thru a haze of smoke  they really need to change that location .... well enough of me going on and on ...

I don't work at a hospital. I probably wouldn't have this problem if I did. The office building I work in is attached to a mall. Our building has the vital records dept, my dept. and a nursing school in it. All I'm going to say is that I hope to never go to a hospital any of these nurses work at. They are all incredibly unprofessional. They might be on their break but they are all gathered in front of the building smoking and acting like idiots.

At our off-site hotel there was a hefty fine for cleaning fees if you smoked in a non-smoking room, and even if you're just outside it can drift in still. Not sure if Disney have a similar policy.

In the early 70s, when smoking was still socially acceptable, I bought a tiny ashtray with a snap lid (had a cigarette rest when it was open) for my mother. She loved it, so I purchased some as gifts for others who smoked. Leu's DH wore his out in about 10 years, but my mother used hers until the end of her life.

Both campuses of the community college have nursing programs. I know 10 years ago we used to make jokes about how you could tell all the nursing students because they were the pack of girls in the smoking area. So, it's not just there.

hmmm I think I need to clarify. The smoking is not what makes them look like idiots. It's the yelling and talking about beating people up
