My husband and I are celebrating our ten year anniversary this month with our three year old daughter at Disney Sept. 23-30 and are staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time. We've stayed at four other Disney resorts and are looking forward the Wilderness Lodge. We got married at the Yacht and Beach Club and are just crazy about Disney vacations, especially now that we have a little one to remind us what true magic is all about when we're there.

OK, my question is (I hesitate to ask for fear of sounding greedy)..is it appropriate to ask if there are any upgrades available once we check into the hotel? We also have some friends meeting us there a couple of days later and would really like to have a room close to them, which may be asking too much for both. My friend meeting us is 9months pregnant! so, maybe that will help.Ha

Any suggestions?

I'm so excited about our trip!

I'm at the wilderness lodge right now! it's WONDERFUL! :))

Upgrades... I've stayed here a lot and it's been the hotel I've been upgraded least at. (with animal kingdom lodge being the most frequently upgraded).

I think if you said you wanted a room close to your friends, that would have a higher chance than can I have a better room upgrade BUT even so I always think its worth asking anyway especially if its a special occasion.

It helps to mention the occasion early (or on the reservation)... perhaps even wearing the mickey/minney wedding ears if it's an anniversary.

I have been upgraded at WL A few times but normally its when I havent asked.

Whereever you get put you'll love it!

That's been my experience too; I've been automatically upgraded at the AKL - a BIG surprise when we got to the room. :D

Can't wait to arrive!!! I'll be enjoying WL and Epcot in less than 42 hours!!!

Thanks for the tips. I know we will have a wonderful time no matter where we are. Those of you that are already there and are planning on checking into the Wilderness Lodge this week have a great time!

If you've booked a standard room, there are standard rooms with a good of MK. We were on the 5th floor and had an excellent view of the castle including wishes, space mountain and the monorail going through the CR. We were on the same side as the restaurants and while our room was over a parking lot, unless you looked down, you only saw MK.

Can you remember the room number of this room Huntermom?

I can never remember my room numbers. I probably should write them down. I think it was something like 5065 or 5165 but I wouldn't make a specific request for that room. I would guess we were only a room or two away from the Woods view rooms as we overlooked a pond to our immediate right. I didin't consider a woods view as our home is surrounded by pines and I find rooms overlooking the poll to be noisy.

I did not request a specific room, only that we not be on the first floor. I would guess that most of the standard view rooms that don't look out on the front of the building, look out towards the Magic Kingdom. We were over a parking lot, but it was under the balcony and the view across was fantastic. We were very surprised at out view, whick was probably enhanced by the hurricanes the previous fall, as the thier were quite a few falled trees.

Good luck,

Diane
