View Full Version : Medication time change

I was just wondering when is best to change the time I take my medication. I take it every morning which it says to do on the packet but with the time difference should I start taking it on the day of flying on American time? Then I will be a few hours late.

What do you normally do when travelling?

I know this seems like a silly question but I have never been on long term tablets before this year.

I think you should ask your doctor, really. He'll be in the best position to tell you.:)

Definitely talk to your doctor!

Typically, they will recommend making the change slowly over a period of several weeks--before and after your trip! It's a bit of a pain, but the alternative is setting an alarm and taking it at your usual time, regardless of local time! :)

Lol well leaving on Saturday not got that option to change over a few weeks. Not going to get a chance now to go to the docs either.

Its not bad to miss a day just not more than one so on Saturday morning I might switch to Orlando time.

Phone your surgery. A doctor there should be able to either speak to you directly or call you back and talk to you.

Or nip down to Boots and ask the pharmacist. They could probably advise on this too.

Might do that cause I have to pick up some tablets today. Thanks

With the time difference only being five hours, I normally just take my tablets on Orlando time and I'm still here after four visits! That also includes being without all my medication due to packing the whole lot in our suitcases which got left at Manchester courtesy of TCD for three days!
Check with your local pharmacy - I'm on beta blockers for migraine and my doctor told me that I'd be ok as long as I got them within a 24 hour period.

I am on beta blockers too but to slow down my heart a little. Those were the ones I was worried about.

Got to pop up the docs this morning because they gave me a prescription that I had stopped taking 6 months ago! Worried it wont be ready in time because I was meant to have a call saying my current one was ready but didnt. Just going to go up there. Things get done faster when you are in front of them

Mel....hope you got your prescription this morning :fingers:

I'm afraid I can't help with your original question.....just wanted to say "what a good question" and one I've never heard before. :)
Will be interesting to hear what the doctor/pharmasist recommends.
