Having listened to all of your opinions on the two sister resorts this looks like the one for us - I know it is bigger and busier than FQ but the theming looks lovely and (more importantly) it won't have scary masks in the food court

So.... can anyone tell me some good stuff about POR - good bulidings to stay in - or maybe show me some photos - our resorts photo are seems to be rather empty of entries under POR.

oooo lots of good stuff!

piano bob - MUST SEE!
good shop with lots of stuff in it
Boat to downtown disney is fantastic especially in the evening.. really nice and relaxing with excellent boat captains
lovely scenery.. river etc...
onsite restaurant (handy but not the best food in the world ;-)

I prefer the mansions side of the resort and somewhere close to the bridge such as oak manor

really does look quite beautiful - a mile away from the values

So the food court - is it along the same lines as the value ones - same kinda choice - free drinks in your beakers - microwaves that kinda thing?

yeah.. better than the values though IMHO... you can get roast chicken-beans-rice etc. that kinda stuff. Makes a good change from the burgers and chips!

It all depends what you're looking for.
If you want a relaxed atmosphere, beautiful landscape, entertainment in the Lounge, Horse drawn Carriage rides, a boat to DTD, pleasant walks and a shop that I LOVE!! Go to POR.:D

If you want a more upbeat atmosphere, a little more noise, good landscaping, a cool poolside bar :D probably a few more kids, but still good quiet pools...go to CBR.:D

I was going to say, we've got loooaaads of photos! :hehe:

Stayed at both, and much prefer POFQ

POR is lovely, beautiful landscaping, etc. It's just POFQ is much smaller, easier to get around, quieter, and so beautiful :bounce:

Not of much interest to a 5 year old then

looked at both - just think I prefer the themeing of POR - I am sure we can get a closer room if we ask nicely

Chris and Lisa, I think you will just love either resort. As mentioned earlier, we stayed at the FQ..and it was fantastic...nice pool for the kiddies, nice food court @Sassogula Float Works (think that was the name of it) and the masks are a bit weird, but my young nephews (2 and 5) were enchanted with them.

So, that being said..POR is fantastic too, nice scenery with a variety of different style buildings. The kids can fish in the river with cane poles (rent them there) and the pool is sort of Huck Finn inspired..a swimmin' hole. Lots of fun.

Upside for PORFQ is the bus gets there first, you are more apt to get a seat on the bus for the kids that is a plus. You don't want to stand if you don't have to.. MHO:blush:

Thanks Dan - really not sure ( in all honesty I think it's Lisa who is afraid of the masks)

Actually these days the bus thing isn't that clear cut! they often (almost always in my experience this year) left from POR went round all the bus stops then over to POFQ. Some did it the other way too. We never ever had a problem getting a seat on a bus from POR to anywhere... back from the park after fireworks or something was a different matter but neither resort has a benefit then anyway. so I wouldn't let the bus thing decide anything.

The mixed reviews are a bit weird... people complaining about it being untidy and messy. I've stayed there plenty of times now and can't understand the comments at all :/ just never saw rubbish anywhere.

Rooms looking tired, well they've been refurbished, so the comments probably predate that

We didn't have a problem with the buses either.

We stayed at FQ in May (sinec the re-furb). Everywhere was spotlessly clean, and we thought the resort was fantastic - so glad everything was close to hand!

As for the busses - the pick up order all depends on where the bus is going to and where it has come from, and also the preference of the driver at that time. So, difficult to predict really!

One advantage of these resorts is that Epcot by bus is sooo quick - so if you want to sample a few of the restaurants there its a lot more efficient that going to any other park/resort or even DTD!

I don't know how big ASM is, as I've ever been there, we've only stayed at POFQ. HOwever, we ventured into POR it is huge!! I think there ia about 3-4 bus stops within the resort itself - that goes to show how big it is!

The rest of our gang are staying at POFQ in a few weeks, i'll get more pics and try to get some of POR too. My brother stayed at Pop last time so he'll be comparing with that and he has 2 kids, 3 and 8. I'll let you know honestly what he thought.

I think I forgot to send you these - don't have the Alligator Bayou rooms, but you can see what the mansion rooms are, and the amenities are the same:

I stayed at POR Labor Day weekend and we were in building 85 (couldn't get into Mac's recommended 14) and the location was awesome. Took 3 minutes to get to the main building, 2 to the pool, 2 to the East Depot bus stop. It was beautiful!

We stayed at POR this past July. The resort is very beautiful and big (and I mean big). If we stayed there at a less humid and sticky time, I'm sure we wouldn't have minded being all the way in the back in building 35.

The room was very clean and nicely decorated.

We took the boat to DTD and it was very relaxing. Got to see something different on our journey. The buses were good. Never waited too long for one. They did get crowded at the end of the day but it wasn't a problem.

We ate at the food court a few times and it was pretty tastey. We all enjoyed it everytime. We also had breakfast at Boatwright's one morning. Loved their banana stuffed french toast. The service was good too.

Sorry we don't have digital pictures to show you. I've been on DH for a while now to get one. Oh well.
