Hi,
Planning our next trip for October next year!
We are going to stay onsite somewhere but cant decide on which hotel.
Since we have stayed at the GF twice will give that a miss next year.
Was wondering which is normally the cheapest deluxe hotel? We stayed at the AK lodge this year which was pretty cheap, is the contemporary cheaper?
We may consider one of the moderate resorts to give us more spending money (1 week in GF you can have 5 weeks in Pop Century) so we might even go down to value resorts.
Since it will be beginning of October it will not be too busy, but do some hotels feel like holiday camps - want to avoid those ones!
We are not too botherd how nice the restaurants are just want nice room, where you dont wait ages for buses with decent facilities.
Thinking of caribbean beach, contemporary, AK lodge, Port Orleans or any other suggestions?
Since im working for a Travel company I get 50% off any rates which is hard because it then gives me too many to choose from!!
Cheers

WL and AKL are the least expensive Deluxes.
I've stayed at both POR and POFQ and love them both.

Were the POR and POFQ expensive? Are they in a good location ?

I got a resident discount for Labor Day weekend and the three nights were under $300

Been looking at some this morning - comparing them all! There are too many! I think we will wait until the prices come out in November and work our way from there.

At the moment it looks like we may do 1 week caribbean beach and 1 week AK lodge, but will probably change our mind when prices come out!

As with all things Disney, the resort you stay at depends on what you want.
Honestly, my two favorite resorts have been POFQ and the Swan. Mainly for the transportation. Especially the boats. From POFQ you can get to Downtown Disney, very easily, on the boat. It's also a nice, relaxing little ride. Much more so than the buses. Though, I don't mind the buses. As for the Swan, a you are within walking distance to the Boardwalk, or you can take a boat. Plus, the boat will take you to a seperate, less crowded entrance to Epcot.
I should mention that, while I like a nice room, and the rooms at both places are nice, I don't really worry about the room. I usually just sleep there, anyway. As long as I can, easily, get to everything I want to get to, I'm fine anywhere. I'm one of the few people who really doesn't care about the room, though. I don't go there for the room. I go there for the fun, baby. A year from now, I think, you will not remember the room. But, you'll remember if it was a pain to get to the parks, and back. And, more importantly, you'll remember what a good time your family had. The room is just a bed.

I like to enjoy the resort that I am staying at for the most part. Once in awhile, for things like the Food and Wine Festival, I'm not so focused on the resort, instead enjoying the special event.
My favorite deluxe is Beach Club, and my favorite DVC is my home resort, OKW. (Bet that surprised you).
OKW gives me much space, and a beautiful surround. I love to walk throughout that spacious resort, and renting a bicycle to ride to DTD is sometimes fun too. The walk/ride is along a canal and that makes it quite nice.
I love the rooms at the BC. Serene, peaceful, light and airy. The staff there are incredibly good to me, and the Cape May Cafe has my favorite Disney buffet (for dinner).

I've done CBR and POR and prefer POR. There's not much difference in the room but the resort is more relaxing. You really do feel you're in the old South. Next year I'm debating whether to go back or try AK.

If you get 50% off of any resort you stay at then I would certainly lean towards Animal Kingdom Lodge or The Polynesian. Either of the two Port Orleans resorts would make a great moderate if you want to split your stay.
