I have 10 pumpkins ripening nicely in the garden. I can make pumpkin soup, but quite frankly there's only so much soup a person can take.
Does anyone have any foolproof pumpkin pie, cake, cookie, anything recipes? :eat:

I wish I could be of some help to you, Dawn. As much as I love pumpkin pie (and the delicious pumpkin cookies my DDIL makes), I've never made anything with "real" pumpkin! It has always come from a can. And I don't know if "real" pumpkin and canned pumpkin "work" the same in a recipe.

They work only if the fresh pumpkin is cooked and drained very well. Baking it might be better. Canned pumpkin does not have the same moisture as freshly steamed/stewed pumpkin.
No recipes off hand, but I bet a search of Food Network would turn up many selections!
(Other than that, carve them into Jack O Lanterns and call it good).

Maybe I should test it and see.
If I bake it and puree it, that might work.
What do I do with the seeds? Apart from grow more pumpkins.
I don't like to waste stuff.

Yes very good!:)
Also some friends of ours have at least 30 or more pumpkins every year and they use them by having a pumpkin carving party! They invite many families and have the children carve the pumpkins(sometime adults too:wink:) we also toast the seeds while we are there and have some hot apple cider. We look forward to it every year.:wiggle:
As for recipes I am afraid I am not much help either as I make everything from a can also. Our friends can the extra that they have so that they are able to use it for things like pumpkin pies etc.

Can't help with recipes, but a former colleague used to make pumpkin bread every year. She bought her pumpkins, though. Our growing season for pumpkins doesn't coincide with Halloween, unfortunately!

Cool! Especially when you select the metric option and it tells you that you need a pumpkin weighing 1589g precisely.
Will give that one a try.

Can you freeze pumpkin after you cook it?? We tried to grow pumpkins but the deer ate our whole garden this year - corn, beans, they even took bites out of the tomatoes plus they ate every single bud on all 5 of my new rose bushes :club: I can never catch them they must come out at night.

Try making figures out of them. Or go for a ride in the country and throw them along the road to see if they grow>
or give the seeds to friends and falimy as a gift.
