I sent an email to virgin to ask if aerosols should be placed in you hand lugguge or suitcases. This is the reply -

Aerosols fall into the category of "Non Radioactive medicinal or toilet articles" and are permitted in either your hand baggage or checked baggage. Medicinal or toilet articles include such items as hair sprays, perfumes, colognes and medicines containing alcohols.

The total net quantity of all such articles carried by each passenger should not exceed 0.5kg or 0.5L (1.1lb or 1pt).

We look forward to welcoming you onboard.

Kind regards

Thanks for that info - its settled a life-long debate for many people I reckon :D

But it begs the question, given there is such a precise answer, as to why this information is never posted on official website for Virgin, BA etc?!?!?
