Hello everyone!
This is my first post but I've been lurking since June so I feel I know most of the regular posters here! I haven't needed to post because most of my questions have already been answered by other threads but now I have a dilema. We are going in June of 2006 and are staying from Sunday the 3rd to Monday the 12th. Sun through Fri we are staying in the WL villas by renting points from a family member. WL was always our first choice but now we have a wonderful problem! Fri through Mon we are going to splurge and go concierge but can't decide between Poly and BC.
Poly because we've heard such wonderful things about the resort and the concierge and because it looks so relaxing.
BC because our two children (4 and 9) are complete water bugs and because of the location. We plan on doing most of our touring during the week and relaxing at the hotel/concierge on the weekend, with a few trips to Epcot.
The dilema:
Both Poly and BC are convenient to Ep.
We planning on spending most of our time at the resort pool. (in favor of BC)
Although kids and I would be comfy, husband is rodeo cowboy (will love WL and even more so Ft Wilderness if we weren't renting point) so I'm afraid he might feel like a bull in a china shop at BC concierge. Poly concierge seems more laid back or family friendly.
Beach Club has the pool.
We plan on one last trip Sunday evening to MK.
What would you Disney experts do?
Thanks!

To get from the Poly to Epcot you'd have to take the monorail to the TTC, go down, change sides and go back up on the Epcot side. BC is easier, just get on the boat

I would favor the Beach Club. As JM says you can take the boat to EPCOT, but you can also walk there in about 5 minutes or less. And as you point out THE POOL!!!!

The Hawaii concierge building is a few minutes walk from the TTC at The Poly, you can be on the Epcot monorail in 5 minutes without having to swap.

Not all rooms at BC have a balcony and they won't guarantee you a room with one. So if that is important to you, BC probably wouldn't be the best selection.
YC & BC share Storm-Along-Bay (pool area), so YC concierge could be a possibility. Although both resorts are nice, BC has a lighter feel to it. YC is more a nautical/eastern cape theme--a bit more solid.
Your DH will be fine in any of the resorts. Some things may look a bit fragile, but most are designed to wear very well! :)

I can't say enough good about the Beach Club Itinerary Planning Office, which is who you will be working with before your trip even starts. Based on what you have told me, I highly recommend this location. If you think he would feel a little more comfortable in more 'masculine' surroundings, I would lean towards the Yacht Club with it's blues and golds and nautical theming, rather than the Beach Club in its pinks and greens and it's sand theming.
Either of the lounges will make him feel comfortable, and he will loose that bull shop feeling in no time! (from someone who's someone of a catastrophe herself!)

A misconception is that it takes longer to go from the BC to Epcot that it does to go from the Polynesian and I have actually timed it. Now technically if you take the time from the BC to the gates at World Showcase it is faster but all the rides are at the other end I can get to Space and Fast track faster from my room at the Polynesian than I can from a room at the BC and I have video to prove it. You do not have to ride the monorail around and than get off and than get back on the epcot monorail. You just walk (less than 5 mintues) next door to the TTC from the Polynesian and get on the monorail for an 8 minute ride to the entrance of Epcot. Not only is it fast but most of that time is riding the monorail and not walking.
With that said I enjoyed Storm Along Bay but I prefer the Polynesian pool myself. The slide is better, there is a beach right at the entrance of the pool, You are not sharing it with another resort and you can sit in the pool at night as look at the castle and fireworks.
One other thing is that the Polynesian concierge is shut down right now being completely renovated and will have one of the best rooms on property with all new furniture, 37” widescreen flat panel TVs, coffee maker and refrigerator area, all new accents and furniture from Bali, and it has one of the largest rooms on property (over 400 sqft).
Here is a link to some info about the new things happening at the resort and there is a link to photos of some of the new rooms in progress.

Concierge rooms will be completed in the next month or so.

I would go with the Beach Club or Yacht Club (YC being my favorite because it is quieter). The other reason I would choose one of these is because you will already be on the MK side of things with the WL. Being in walking distance to Epcot is a big plus. You have so many restaurant choices in walking distance from the YC or BC that you never have to leave that area. Since relaxation is your key it will be nice not having to get on any transportation.
If you are going by food offerings I have to say that the Polynesian evening offerings have more options then the BC or YC.

Coming from a fat man, did you all forget the most important aspect of the Beach Club? Yes, Beaches and Cream, where they serve quite possibly the most incredible cheese burger in the world.
Having never stayed at the Poly, as I don't fancy the theming, I would definatly go with the Beach Club. I will however say that having stayed at the Grand Floridian Main building Concierge, I will be hesitant to spend the money on another resort at that level. The Beach Club Concierge lounge was small, often messy with crumbs on the floor and tables, and the staffing of the lounge was less than desirable. Hats off to the itenerary planners. There was nothing that was needed that was not obtained.
In my humble opinion, I would save the money from the lounge and get a larger room. The deluxe room we had was wonderful, and your husband will appreciate the additional space.
