Is it possible to walk beside the river from POR to Downtown Disney?

I don't think so - we asked one of the captains on the ferry between POFQ and DTD and he said that you couldn't but I suppose he might have been wrong!

I can highly recommend the boats though and the short stroll by the river between POFQ and POR is lovely.

Ooh yes - we didn't get a go on the horse and carriages but they looked lovely as they clip-clopped along beside the river in the evenings. Or you could hire one of a variety of boats and bikes at POR.

Going on the amount of time it took to get between the 2 on the boat, I doubt it.
It would be a looooooooooong walk.

I don't think it would be possible as some of the land appears to be closed off. I think it would be quite a walk and some of the area is in total darkness as well!

Iona - Thank you. We love the boat trip. It was DH that thought about us having a romantic stroll.

Chris/Lisa - Yep. We are staying at POR this trip. Have stayed in POFQ and wanted to try a different one.

Whitequeen - The boat goes so slowly that we thought it would probably be as quick to walk..

tweenie123 - Thanks for warning about darkness  .

Mistik - a *very* romantic stroll is from POR to POFQ, along the river. It's heavenly. Just don't do it on a foggy night or at dawn, or you'll have all kinds of Anne Rice images in your brain!

Also, the banks rise on both sides pretty high up in some areas, like through the Treehouse section, and is impassable by all except gators! (yes, there is that ever present danger)

LOL - knew that wouldn't take much. Seriously, go for a stroll at dawn on a cloudy day - the mist along the waters, with the masks and characters popping out of the scenery is just haunting. :D

The trip to DTD by boat from POR is beautiful in itself!

The boat captains really seem to love their job and they enjoy making jokes, telling you trivia etc.

Of an evening it was truly one of the highlights of our stays at POR

That's my dream job! I told my DW that when we retire I want to capatain one of those boats.

BTW..the river flows around the "Tree Houses" and golf courses and I saw no walkway to DTD. There is a wonderful walkway from the FQ to POR. DW and I walked off more than a few calories from our dinners there!:)

So... DH now thinks a dawn stroll sounds great. Do you realise just how early I will have to get up to be ready to go for a dawn stroll!

It is indeed. When we stayed at POFQ we used the boat in the evenings many times.

I'd get up that early if it meant bumping into The Vampire Lestat!!
