View Full Version : Virgin Reps @ Disney Resorts & the Airport?

I've got a couple of questions regarding the Virgin Reps in Orlando, if anyone could oblige! :)

First, we've booked a transfer with Quicksilver from the airport to our hotel (the Caribbean Beach Resort) so we've cancelled the virgin transfers, and I was wondering, do we need to collect anything from the reps at the airport? I can't remember what we did last time!

Secondly, we're not planning on going to the welcome meeting this time, as it seems to just be for the reps to sell excursions, but could anyone tell me where the reps hang out the rest of the time in case we need to speak to one? I know last time, they were at the All Star Music resort each evening, but I was wondering what other hotels they visit - do they visit the Caribbean Beach?

Thanks once again for all the assistance - what did people use to do before the internet was around :D

eeek dont know about that..... you may have to call them for a schedule or something but to be honest, I think the chances of you needing them are VERY VERY remote  in my experience, other than selling excursions, they don't do much

Thats OK then - as I say, I couldn't remember what happened last time.

The only time we did need to speak to them on our last trips was to book busses to universal etc, but this time we're doing it ourselves, so we won't need to see them for that - it was really only in case of emergencies!

One thing that has occurred to me - last time we were there, we got vouchers for a free meal at the Hard Rock cafe at the welcome meeting - if we don't go, can we get the vouchers from the reps at the hotels?

Thanks again!

When we stayed on HPB, there was a Virgin board on the wall and that had the reps visiting times posted on it. I'm sure if you ask at the CB desk they'll let you know the reps routine if they do visit. :)

Do they provide you with a US telephone number for emergency contact? If so, tuck it into your wallet, pocket or luggage...just in case!

If you're handling your ground transporation and activities, you probably won't need the reps unless there is an emergency regarding departure.

You can try but the vouchers are there to persuade you to go to the welcome meeting, where they make the money back by selling excursions <G>

I've got to exchange a voucher for a real ticket with virgin and i was

thinking of just turning up at the welcome meeting as it was finishing.

That way i get to do some shopping first. :D :wiggle:

Also i wanted to get my Hard Rock voucher.

If you just tell them you slept through the alarm there's not really much they can say.

We had to exchange vouchers for Cirque De Solei. We just turned up ealy before the meeting started and got our tickets started - just say you had to be somewhere to meet people!!!

Still it was a pain, so we're booking all excursions direct next time around :D

Just curious. I always read peoples comments regarding these Virgin welcome meetings. Having been on one myself I found it a waste of time (we had to go to DTD for ours 5 years ago) and I agree it seems purely to sell you day trips etc but do other companies have the same sort of welcome meets? And if they do, are they avoided as much as the Virgin ones seem to be?

It's not just Virgin, they all do it, we went to Cyprus with Thomson many many years ago and they did exactly the same thing then, tried to talk you into excursions. My cousin used to be a rep and they get commission, so the more they sell the more money they make.

Yep - we've got that safely stored away

I hadn't thought of that - I don't suppose they are too keen on handing out the vouchers if you don't go to the meeting  we're not particularly bothered about the free meal anyway.

Thanks for all the info everyone!

I think the only thing you would need is the emergency contact number to be honest......

Agreed!!!

Assuming you have done some planning before you go, then you will no doubt know what you plan to do whilst your there. The majority of people don't need somebody brain washing them into doing further activities which is onpy going to cost them even more money!!!

As I said in a previous post, I arrived early and got my Cirque De Solei Voucher exchanged for the "real" ticket. Anyway, I turn up on the night and hand the ticket over the counter (you see, you have to exchange this again at the Ciruqe desk to get the real real ticket  ). The Virgin rep hasw only gone and booked in the wrong day!!!

The date he told me, and the date he wrote on the ticket, was for the second Friday of the vacation. The bloke at the Cirque counter said the booking on the computer was for the previous Friday!! Luckily, the Cirque staff member was extremely polite and helpful, and maneged to re-book us in!!! Phew!!!!

On the same night, we had purchased this through Virgin as part of the meal deal voucher which gives a free meal at Planet Hollywood. I really hope nobody busy this!!! It took 4 members of staff to recogise the ticket we had as being a valid one, and then everything just went downhill from there!!

So the morale of the story is - buy no extras from Virgin - go direct!!! And do Cirque - its wonderful :D

We go for the Hard Rock cafe voucher, as meal was great, and the voucher allows you to have their fajitas :) .

But we were cheeky and just asked the rep for the voucher, at the welcome meeting and went.....

Why do they do it in the morning, should do it in the early evening (with snacks and drink  ).
The morning is the time most people want to hit the parks !!

Yep, I had the fajitas last time when we got the vouchers, only problem was I couldn't eat it all

And having the meeting in the evening sounds like a great idea!

Just had another thought  . Are the room keys at the Disney resorts still the park passes? I know they always were the last few times we've been!

Yep, nothings changed there. [Assuming it`s part of your package, or you purchase your passes at the resorts.]

if you are traveling on a package your ticket is part of your room key

Yes, we've booked the package with Virgin.

And our Universal & Seaworld passes - we just hand in the vouchers we'll get at the parks when we visit don't we? Or is my memory failing me? :D

The welcome meeting has been in the Virgin mega store in the snack bar area upstairs the last 18months or so. I generally go and grab the voucher and meet up with the rest at the park we had planned for that day and told the reps that I just want to collect voucher and they have been fine each time and sorted me out.

Well, we got our tickets today :wiggle: :mexwave: :micbounce !!

And I can confirm, at least for the orlando flexticket, that you just hand in the voucher at the parks to collect your tickets - just need to take ID with you - so no need to attend the meeting for those!
