I went a bit mad when I first started collecting pins
I then decided to collect Mickey pins only. So, now I have quite a lot of Pooh/Tigger etc pins that I just stuffed in the bottom of a drawer. Can I use these pins to trade for Mickey pins while at WDW?
Never saw any pin trading at all in the parks.....but wasn't really looking!
Who do you look out for?
What information/tips can you give me?
Thank you.:)

If they have "Disney" stamped on the back! Get out your magnifying glass!
There was a really good thread on this awhile ago....guess BevW has quite the collection! I will see if I can find it! Okay...all I can tell you is to search for "First Time Pin Trader". I don't know how to link that thread to here!
Also you are not allowed to trade any that your mother gets attached to as she then has a meltdown the middle of Epcot cause you want to trade away one of your Dumbo pins!

Cast members are great to trade with Diane. I'd steer clear of the professional pin traders, some of them are downright rude. :grrr:
Don't wear pins you don't want to trade, we found it works better if people feel they can have the pick of your lanyard in return for you picking anything off theirs

Oh yes...be careful of those "fanatics"...they are downright scary.
I won't not wear my favorite pins...so what I do is put all my non-tradeables on one side of my lanyard and all my tradeable on the other. If anyone but a cast member asks to trade I just explain that one side is tradeable and the other isn't...I haven't had a problem.
Now....my 6"4' 200 lb brother just wears 2 lanyards! He is his own walking Disney attraction!

Oh yeah, don't haggle with those crazies!!! They'll trade ONLY if they get the best of the deal..and if you don't know what you have I don't think that's right. I always let people know what's what if I have an idea.
You can trade pin for pin as long as it's a Disney pin. It can be from any Disney park or the Disney store or catalog. BUT you can't trade some Epcot pins for Disney pins. I think they're the flag pins...not the Mickey ears flag pins..just the plain old flag pins.
And girl, I'm always willing to trade pins. I even just unpacked all my pins! Wooohoooo....I sure did miss them!

Thanks guys. :)
Meezers.....will go check that link out, thanks.
As I said, I am only interested in Mickey pins now so all of my Pooh, Tigger etc I can trade :D Going to get them out of the drawer now and check that they all say Disney on the back which I'm sure they do :D
I don't wear any pins in the park. My collection is in a pin book. So, my Pooh etc, I will put on a lanyard and wear that on our next visit. Never pin traded before....getting rather excited at getting more of my Mickey pins :)

OH OH Isa...CM's wear 2 different colored lanyards...one for everyone to trade from and one JUST FOR KIDS! But if you're pitiful enough, the CM will feel sorry for you and trade! :lmao:
I once got a really really cool pin from one of those vulture pin traders. It was amazing she spoke to me at all, but she saw a pin on my lanyard that she really wanted, and I saw a pin on her vest that I RREALLLLYYY wanted. We traded (I got the better end of the deal cos the pin I got was a CM pin). She got a good trade cos the pin she got she had never ever seen before. That's cos it was about 10 years old!
Just be careful. You need to research your pins also. Go to the stores when you arrive at WDW and look over the pins. That way you don't trade for a pin everyone has, OR you can trade for a LE pin that is expensive. Always as for the CM lanyard pins. They are rare, but are a great find! My Mom got several when she finally got the nerve to ask. Yeah, I got her hooked on pin trading too. She was a joy to watch.

The Cast Lanyard pins tend to have a small "hidden mickey" on them - popular CL pins include the disney dollars (Mickey, Goofy and Donald), the "Wanted" pins (disney villains on wanted posters - there's 5 of them), Monorails (theres 8 now), - have a quick ebay search for "cast lanyard pin" on ebay and you'll see how much you'd pay for them if you bought them off ebay - its generally not worth trading a CL pin for more than an $8.95 pin, unless its rare.
Limited Editions are obviously what they are - the smaller the edition, the harder they are to find. have a look at pinpics before you go, get an idea of what you want, and stay away from the professionals!!

So this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Disney-Cast-Lanyard-Yellow-Monorail-Pin_W0QQitemZ6592741573QQcategoryZ143QQrdZ1QQcmdZV iewItem) might be something worth buying?

Actually, I'd appreciate it if everyone would post any pin related questions - and answers - right here in this forum so we can all benefit! I love buying pins, but seldom trade. Why? Well, I usually buy what I like and intend to keep. But I have been known to trade. I love learning other people's trading secrets!
